Steven A. and Bayless on Cam controversy

You live in California, I'm sure you would gladly go find another team if we don't win. There were never excuses in the first place. We don't have Julio Jones, Cordarrele Patterson, Justin Blackmon, anyone. We have a remake of moose in Lafell who is running 35 yard posts. We need more to put the blame on Cam. An aging oline and below average new guys could get him killed.

Put it on the staff, the GM, the fans, and the team. It's not all on Cam. In a side note, why on earth would you let espn influence your opinion on the Panthers or Cam newton. Bunch of trolls.

Don't hate on us CA panther fans, guy. We're some of the most dedicated panther fans in #panthernation

I've never missed watching a single game since our inception.

I've watched 2 specific segments, and you're right they don't talk about the Panthers much, but one being before the Thurs Night Giants game last year where Steven A. actually picked Carolina over his team the Giants, and he appeared to know what he was talking about. In this segment he talked somewhat fluently about the team.

Skip always takes on the same evidence about Cam. He celebrated in the end zone down 20+ on thursday night, he pouts in press conferences, he's inaccurate (which is ignorant as fug), and he had maturity issues in college. He always takes on the "I like Cam, but blah blah blah I don't really like him" deal

Steven A. on the other hand, I'm not going to say he's overly knowledgeable or anything, but I will say he knows more about Carolina than the average ESPN analyst. He really does like Cam, but he also really likes all superstar athletes, while Skip for the most part hates them.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Unfortunately, last year, both Steven A and Skip were riding their selected QB's hard (RG3 and Luck), and basically dismissed Cam being part of the discussion amongst those two last year.

I distinctly, remember Steven A, looking off Skip with disdain, when Cam was being brought into the discussion with RG3. Skip was riding Luck with similar hyperbole, and Cam dismissiveness.

Now, of course, both guys could have just been "riding the latest wave". And may change their opinion (if they ever believed it in the first place), after, during the upcoming season.

It's the nature of sports now, for many of these guys that talk about it everyday; especially these two.

Needless to say; they both jumped on the Kaepernick Bandwagon hard last year, whether they actually believe he's for real or not.

Every time someone posts about Cam needing to win and compares him to Luck's record I am going to re-post my post from months

ago.

Along with that, here is another interesting fact about Luck's 'luck' last season:

In addition to the 18 interceptions Luck threw last season, he had 10 fumbles, five of which he lost.  Luck also had seven interceptions dropped by defensive players.  Those seven dropped interceptions were tied for the most in a season since 2009.

I'm guessing Stephen A Smith is more in touch in things in nc being that he went to Winston Salem State. I didn't get to watch the segment. I'm stuck at work :( . We have to all remember, whether good or bad things are being said, it is all for ratings (entertainment purposes) You can just watch Skip and Stephen go at it with smirks on their face, its all acitng out a character. That being said, I'm ready to watch my boys play.

I didn't watch the segment. But that's  funny, interesting to hear

Historically; from my vantage point, I found both he and Skip to know nothing about the Panthers. They just pushed convenient media memes about the team and their QB. Plus, I never heard either one of them  mention the Panther coaching or GM in any discussion about the team, QB or their season.

I guess they decided to do their research today (though the subject should have never been brought up).

Stephen A has preached on the coaching in Carolina. Here you go...

Thanks/good find.

However, it doesn't take away from all the numerous times, I've heard Cam ALONE criticized (especially in comparison to the other young, star QB's), with out ever a discussion or mention of the coaching or GM.

Hopefully, this is not a one shot thing (for alleged balance). And they've changed their tune.

I'll watch it, when I get a chance.

PS: Now that I've looked at the subtitles (didn't watch the video though). I noticed they're discussing one game, and whether it's not Cam Newton's fault. Not sure this is/was worth a segment (especially with that title)??

Yeah it was a "once in a blue moon" blame the coach and not Cam. When you do watch the video the discussion went beyond just this game since this was once again another game that was loss in the final minutes
