when I was a kid(8-16) I would chop wood with an ax in the freezing cold, wash and wax cars all year long (my dad was insane with clean cars) and just general hard labor grew up in a farm in Ky.

 

 

my kids freak when they have to cut the grass, I wish thats all I had to do growing up.

My kids don't even know what commercials are thanks to DVR.  In the rare case we are watching live TV they get all pissy about commercials. "Fast forward daddy!" followed by me explaining that I can't which is met with puzzled looks and more complaining.

 

Kinda scary, but I hate commercials so I guess it's my fault?

I have a cassette tape case on my iPhone. People look at me weird when I'm walking down the street talking on it, and one time in Carrabba's, the waitress asked me what it was. :phew: She seriously had no idea what a cassette tape was, but then again she didn't know how to wait on somebody either.

All of my kids are 8 and younger and they not only know about half the things already mentioned but they have seen or used them in the past few months including VHS tapes, a basic non-electric push button home phone, played Donkey Kong, Pac Man & Mrs. Pac Man (granted it was on a computer), listened to CD's (almost everyday), and used a typewriter.

Took my youngest to the Battleship this past weekend and he saw a typewriter and wanted to know how it worked...  he thought it was hilarious.
