Gettleman on Cam "It's time to start winning"

Cam had made us better.....without him we wouldn't of been in every game virtually. We haven't given him enough help.

Our weapons around him are greatly overrated. One reason is a huge chunk of that list has involved RBs making up a huge portion of the list

Our RB's and WR's are better than any that New England has put in the field.

We have the weapons.

I certainly hope Gettleman is just saying this for motivational purposes, otherwise it comes off as ill-informed.

Yes, Cam needs to start winning, but he needs a team built around him that he can win with.

Gettleman has done some great things this offseason, but he still pulled a Hurney in bargain shopping for players at positions of need instead of addressing those needs with players who can fill the void immediately - OG, S, CB, WR. True, Rome wasn't built in a day, but I think it's unfair to hold Cam accountable for a poorly constructed team as a whole.

That being said, this feels like (on paper) the best team he's ever went into camp with.

Believing it is all some smart motivational ploy IMO is wishful thinking....

IMO it goes back to his initial comments about the QB position when he arrived. If Dave was allowed to build a team from scratch.....he wouldn't want Ron or a new age QB like Cam. Those were 2 forced on him.

I just think that we have enough weapons. But, I also agree that it is time to add to the stable.

i expect an offense heavy draft next year...focus on WR and OL

Again, when we talk about Cam's weapons it is always filled with a laundry list of RBs. They cancel each other out to a degree.

And NE's receiving weapons last year with there scheme factored in....NE's weapons were better. Things suddenly fell apart for NE overnight.

But how about Jonathan Stewart (5 seasons, 35-45)?  Is it time for him to win?

Or D-Will (7 seasons, 50-62)? Is it time for him to win?

Or Ryan Kalil and Charles Johnson and Jon Beason (6 seasons, 42-54)?

Or Greg Hardy (3 seasons, 15-33)?

Or, yet again (in the minds of many), is Cam the only thing holding this team back from winning?

do any of those guys have the ball in their hands on every snap?

Anybody have an issue with the question that was actually asked???  What kind of moron (Person) would ask the GM if Cam is their future QB?  Really?  Nothing about the offensive line problems that are so obvious or the lack of talent at cornerback and wide receiver.  Or hell just ask which rookie has impressed you.  Geez Person, I wanted to smack him for that crap.

And as far as Gettlemen's answer is concerned I think its right on, and its what everyone is thinking.  Cam won't be elite until he starts winning games.  I understand it takes a team to win games but when Luck, RGIII, and Wilson do it their first year its hard to overlook.  Personally I think coaching is the issue and it pains me to know that we'll have to deal with that for another year.

But thanks Person for your great question on the topic that all of us are pretty sure of...and thats that Cam is ABSOLUTELY our QB of the future.

3 of our 5 OL spots are questionable...that alone is a head scratcher considering we have a weapon like Cam. That has potential to have our team working from a hole in both the run and pass game.

That has the potential to make who is in your backfield running largely irrelevant. Look at Williams last year....look bad or ordinary most of the year. Some of that is Williams aging....a lot of it is we just weren't build upfront to use him.

Yeah, that's what troubles me about him saying this... and that pause when asked if Cam is the QB of the future??? Are you serious??? Gettleman needs to chill out.

Ever since his hire, I've questioned his commitment to Cam, and this just adds to that. Gettleman better not F this up. Cam is not the problem. Hopefully, if G-man starts rocking the boat too much regarding Cam, JR's love for Cam overrides his stupidity.

Goes back to winning or losing not being a QB stat.....

Mark Sanchez went to two AFCCGs in his first 2 years....that didn't make him elite.

Person probably asked it bc Dave has made comments about the position before that don't seem to match what Newton is, he has zero say virtually in what his team would be this year etc. Does Gettlemen REALLY believe in Cam? That isn't a dumb question and I am not sure he does

Is this from a press conference or an interview? Being that this is Joe Person asking the questions and writing the article, I have my reservations about it. I think he is just trying to stir poo up. I'd like to see the video of it.
