7/30 camp thread

Recommended Posts

Did the Tinderbox and the Panthers section merge and I didn't know about it? This is acceptable here?

I was out of line and should not have made the abortion comment....for that I apologize.

However, your initial post calling me out about using homer and excuse in the same thread was absolutely a shot across my brow and was an intentional barb.....so, don't play all innocent now.

If we don't address the RG spot, the more worried I am about Seattle, and the entire season for that matter.

Agreed....

We either need a stronger RG to compensate for a below avg RT.  Or, a stronger RT to compensate for a below avg. RB.

Right now I believe we have a below avg RG and RT.

I would prefer both being upgraded, but that may be too much to ask for.

As always, teams with 4 or 5 valuable interior lineman will have to cut ties with one before the season starts. Where Gettleman's strength plays to the Panthers advantage is his ability to find these good discarded players who were possibly in the wrong scheme or bad situation.

Gettleman has given me no reason to think he will drop the ball here. We must now have patience. (He knew RG was an issue when he drafted Kugbila).

"But" and "However" - Two words that make an apology not an apology.

Back to the football.

I absolutely apologized for the one comment...it was out of line.

I also stated why I got so snarky....does not change the validity of the apology.

Carry on.

QB Cam Newton consistently hitting his targets today. Has found Ted Ginn multiple times and hit Brandon LaFell on a nice deep ball.

Everyone is talking about the O-line, rightfully so, but I did zero in on the fact that our receiving corps seems to be what many of us thought they were. Like I have harped on for years now: we are but one Smitty injury away from seeming disaster.

At 3pm today, we need to come on one accord, face the sun, kneel down in prayer and pray that Smitty gets through the season without injury... :P

I am thinking that it will be easier to fix the line, even if we don't do anything but get Wharton, but WTF are we gonna do at receiver? Hopefully Adams, Bersin or whoever can have a great showing with the first team. I still don't believe it will be enough though. With Zod's remarks about every TE not named Olsen being basicaly nondescript, we could always gamble the vet minimum on Kellen Winslow.

I am trying not to go all Chicken Little, but it makes me nervous hearing tweets that belie my greatest fear.

We've been a Steve Smith injury away from a completely inept offense for ten years. However, one could argue that the Lions are a Calvin Johnson injury away from an inept offense as well. When you've got a marquee WR as the centerpiece of your offense that's a risk you take.
