7-28 Camp Thread

I know it's only the third day of camp, but let's be honest... we all knew are offensive line was poor.

Hangartner is a serviceable backup at best and Byron Bell is a below average tackle. On top of that our depth isn't exactly great.

Other than Silatolu, Kalil, and Gross (who is a shell of his former self); our o-line is garbage.

Gross is still a top 10 LT in the NFL. Last year he was the only starting caliber OL on the field. Don't let the ineptitude of those who were around him tarnish how valuable he still is. This year with an experienced Silatolu and healthy Kalil, don't be surprised when Gross looks like an All-Pro again. Gross just turned 33, not 43, he still has plenty left in the tank.

I really like Gettleman's draft with Star, Kawann, Klein, and Barner.

Unfortunately, I see an injury filled career ahead of Kugbila. If the guy can't even stay on the field for practice, how is he going to stay on the field for games. Not everyone is as lucky as Jonathan Stewart.

Kugbila has no prior injury history and all he did was tweak his hamstring. Making that statement based on those circumstances makes you look like an idiot.

Please... Gross hasn't been the same player he used to be for at least two years... Pretend his name isn't Jordan Gross and watch him play, he's not the same player he used to be.

Few players are as tough as Steve Smith... so there's that.

And I wouldn't exactly say Steve Smith has had an injury filled career.

All I'm saying is, he seems to be injury prone. I mean come on, two injuries in the span of a month...

And Smith broke his arm twice in less than 6 or so months if I remember right.  That is far worse than a freakin' pulled hamstring.

You can't have a double standard here.  You can't criticize Kugbila for pulling a hammy in an NFL practice (and seriously, it is a hamstring dude, not exactly rare for a 300+ pounder to pull on occasion) and then say Smith breaking his arm in flag football vs. randoms is irrelevant or imply it.

Yes, Smith hasn't had an injury riddled career.  But if Smith had broken his arm playing football right before his debut, would you have called him injury prone?  You haven't even let Kugbila play an NFL game yet.

Also, "injuries" is a bit pushing it.  You make it sound like this something severe.  It was a tweaked knee from what I remember that likely led to his pulled hamstring.  It is seriously nothing.

EDIT - Didn't see the posts before I posted but because this isn't the thread for this, I'm done with the argument.  But pretty much writing Kugbila off because of a pulled hamstring in practice is one of the silliest things I have read on this site (and I have read some ridiculous stuff mind you).

8789, you should just stop while you are behind. You make yourself look like an idiot enough as is.

Steve also didn't need the reps at that point in his career. A rookie that is super raw from a D2 school needs all the reps he can get.
