The OFFICIAL Breaking Bad Final 8 Thread (with teaser trailer)

Please elaborate because I struggle to come up with more than just a couple of things to put at Jesse's feet.

He pushed the "No Kids" issue too far/hard with Gus

His hookup with Jane and that fall out was all on him

To me Jesse has always represented the moral center of the Heisenberg universe.  He has always carried the weight of things going wrong and was as much a victim of Walter White as anyone else on the show.

Krazy8 - Jesse led him and the other guy straight to Walt.  Walt had to save their asses.

Tuco - Jesse set up this relationship via Pete and was dumb enough to bring all their meth to him.  Walt had to do his thing to get their money.

Those 2 I wouldn't exactly say were Jesse's fault, but he used zero discretion.

Jane - Obvious.  Walt had every intention of giving him his money, but only after he cleaned himself up.  Jesse's drug binge almost ruined the initial deal with Gus in the first place.

Hank beating the crap out of Jesse - it was Jesse that led Hank straight to the RV.  Walt had to save their asses.

Gus' dealers - How did Jesse know Andrea in the first place?  He was trying to sell meth to recovering addicts.  Where did he get the meth?  He was stealing it from the super lab he was getting paid millions to run.  Why was he stealing it and selling it?  He was bored.  Jesse just couldn't sit aside and make his millions.  Once he found out about the kid killing Combo he just couldn't leave it alone and ended up with the kid getting killed.  Then he tries to be a cowboy and Walt, again, saves his ass.

Gale - The entire situation came about because of those 2 dealers

Gus/Brock poisoning - Jesse was being played like a fool by Gus and Mike.  I'm not saying Walt isn't fuged up for doing what he did, but if Jesse wasn't such an idiot and worked with Walt there could have been a different way.  The only reason Walt poisoned Brock was to get Jesse on his side.

Hank - Walt never intended on killing Jesse.  Jesse working with Hank was the only reason they were out in the desert and it resulted in Hank's death.  Only then did Walt turn cold on Jesse.  Yes we know why Jesse did what he did (finding out about Brock) but that still doesn't change the fact that he was the catalyst for that situation.

Once hooked up with Gus, if Walt dropped Jesse and never spoke to him again he would still be cooking in the super lab making millions.  Walt cared about him and looked out for him all the way up to Hank getting killed.

Walt's actions have been fuged up no doubt but Jesse isn't the innocent victim.  If Jesse represents the moral center then that's only because he wears his emotions on his sleeve while Walt internalizes them.  I do feel sorry for Jesse, he's the lovable idiot, but he's has as much to do with the situation he's in as Walt.

Actually, if there is any weak point to the plot/story(which I don't think there is), it's that Jesse always ends up being the one driving the major developments.  Emotionally justified or not, it's always Jesse, and he always gets poo on as a result.

The only thing Jesse had no part in was Walt killing Mike.

An m60 is 7.62, right?

Mighty big to take a shot to the gut and walk around. I thought it was glass debris.

It could definitely have been glass debris. Not exactly sure.  Either way I thought the ending was worthy of the rest of the show.  The kid Jesse cared about perhaps more than his own son got away, he took out the guys who robbed him and killed Hank, he killed anyone who could manufacture his product (outside of Jesse who he knows wouldn't unless forced), and he got to say goodbye to Skylar.  Outside of showing the police uncovering Hank and Gomez, and seeing what happens with Skylar legally (as well as seeing if Gretchen and Elliot followed through with Walt's wishes) I felt like all the loose ends were tied up in the story.  Could there have been more action?  Sure.  But I still thought the ending was thoroughly satisfying....

    • You absolutely can have hope. You can’t convert people though; making advocacy posts are kind of … not reading the room.   I had a small hope that he would be able to at least manage some games and that they could make it work in some kind of no fun to watch fashion.  But honestly I had 100% determined he was not NFL starter material, and I had conviction. So to root for him to marginally succeed goes against the best interest of the Panthers long term, according to my beliefs. I wanted him gone the minute he got here if I am honest. It was up to him to prove otherwise.  He has rarely shown me anything to think I was wrong on his ceiling.  He did show me some courage last year, standing in the pocket and stepping into his throw in the face of pressure - but that has gone somewhere. He made some nice throws last year in places too, but they invested in him on the level of the Atlanta game should be his norm. Good luck seeing that again on Sunday. Still, he did it once, so technically it could happen again.
    • Damn that was a longer post than I intended, Maybe I should have started a new thread.
    • On that TD, he sure didn't get any help from Scott at FS! While we're pointing out Blue Chips...Horn has proven to be a lock-down, (dare I say)elite CB and DB is one of the best at DT. Which brings me to a topic that has unfortunately been much on my mind lately...2026. Our important (IMO) FAs are: Rico Dowdle - As you pointed out, Etienne is developing nicely and Brooks is still untested potential, so not a big loss. Cade Mays and Brady Christensen - I think we can keep both without breaking the bank. BC tested the market this year and it was all but non-existent. He's a solid backup, but backup linemen don't get paid. Mayes is our only starter on the line who's a FA and he's technically not a starter. Corbett is a FA, but good riddance as far as I'm concerned. He stays hurt and can't snap the damn ball when he is healthy. Hunter Renfrow signed a 1 -year prove it deal, and will resign a team friendly deal again I think. He has repeatedly said that he only wants to play here and is Coker's backup anyway. DJ Wonnum - Solid mid-tier guy that I would like back, but is easily replaceable. I will not cry if he walks. Every other FA is bottom of the barrel roster fillers. As it stands now, we need (in order); QB, ILB, OL/DL depth, secondary depth. If we resign Mays, OL is in tact again and still pretty darned good. Horne, Jackson, and Smith-Wade are solid starters as are T-mac and Coker. We have some promising young WRs in Tremayne and Horn. I see us trying to get a FA Chain mover and/or resign Renfrow. RB room looks really good. TE is a conundrum, Tremble will never be a great pass catcher and Sanders will never be a great blocker. Evans is starting to show signs of life, but not enough to tell yet. This could be another spot we try to upgrade via free agency, having a proven TE could really help our rookie QB.
