Charlotte And Henderson Agree To Contract

Recommended Posts

You guys really think Hendo or in general the "SG" position wont be the position to address next off season?

Nope, I don't.  If Hendo stays healthy this is.  Second half on a terrible team last year, when he was healthy, averaged almost 19 points a game and then of course his defense.  Very few people were better down the stretch.  Henderson continues to be totally undervalued by some of our fans.

I like Hendo very much, but I dont think he's the answer at SG on this team. And of course he should be putting up good numbers or should have put up "better" numbers especially being on a bad team: Charlotte. Hendo fits the mold of a 6th man of the bench or a player like a Thabo/Shumpert on a very, very good team; OKC/NYK. And I have to give the edge to Shumpert over Hendo no matter what the stats says.

Hendo has to show me more that he's worth being the no.12 overall pick and the starting SG for this team in the future. Not just by playing well toward the end of the season.

Shooting Guard is easily the position to address next off season for this team unless Cho/MJ decides to part way with a Kemba or MKG. If we land a top5 pick next year, a Wiggins/Parker/Smart/Harrison is going to be drafted to replace Hendo for the future.

I thought I would leave this here because we have some idiots in this fan base.

A restricted free agent, Henderson was second on the Bobcats in scoring last season at 15.5 points per game. He finished strong, averaging 23.9 points over the last 23 games, on 48 percent shooting from the field and 86 percent from the foul line.

With this I really hope we can trade Ben Gordon's contract for either a pick or a backup PF or combination of players that include a 3rd string PG, C, SF.

U can almost bank on it that cho will dump Gordon for a draft pick. 13 mil expiring is very valuable to a team in salary hell

We would have to assume a similar salary number back in a trade for Gordon.

Unless it is a deal that we can't refuse I am not sure we would want to trade him because of that contract.

I like this deal.  It gives us 2 years to see if he really is as good as he played the last 23 games.  If he is, we will pay him.

If not, it's a fair amount for us to spend on our starting shooting guard.  We know at least he's a decent starter.

Let's just hope he puts it all together.  If he comes close to those numbers over the next 2 years, we got a bargain.

He averaged just shy of 24 pts a game the last quarter of the season, he's gotten better every year.  6 mil is either perfect compensation, or he's underpaid, you don't have many 2 guards with a money mid-range game, can play in the post, is getting better at attacking and getting to the FT line, and can lock you down on defense.

Like the signing, especially if he plays like he did the second half of the season.

Thabo was the starter at almost 27 minutes a game even when Harden was there in OKC. Second Henderson is much better offensively then Thabo. The fact that you compared him to Thabo and Shumpert is insane. If you watch them play he's clearly better then both of them. Wow... lol

On Top of that Wiggins and Parker will be NBA 3's not 2 guards. Smart will be asked to be a PG for who ever drafts him just like Oladipo was by Orlando.  The only thing here that makes sense is you listing Harrison and he's more of a PG then a SG.

Most likely what you'll see happen is the team take the best player, If that's Wiggins or Parker they'll start or backup at the 3 spot depending on what the team wants to do. Smart would be the backup SG/PG and take Sessions place at least for the first season. Harrison would be the backup SG... Unless they're able to draft Parker or Wiggins, anyone they draft is going to be a backup for a few seasons at best. There's a chance that they would even have Parker come off the bench to get some scoring on the bench.

Edit: Honestly I think they would trade back and elect not to draft Parker actually.

Offensively, of course Hendo is much better than Thabo and Shumpert. But, I never said anything comparing that. I said Hendo fits the mold (role player) of a Thabo/Shumpert on a contending team, i.e. OKC, Lakers, Miami, NYK, etc. Some who brings defensive for a very good team and doesnt have to score 15 PPG. On one of those team, Hendo would probably be averaging at best 10-12 PPG. As a 6th man, he would be much better like a Lou Williams or Manu situation. And no I'm not comparing Hendo to any of them. Im comparing the "situation".

And who really know what position Wiggins, Parker, Smart, or Harrison will play in the pro. Wiggins has the ability to play the '2' like a Tmac. Parker ideally is a '3/4'. Many draft experts have wondered if Smart would be a PG or SG in the pro. If you look at his game, he is so similar to Dwade and what he brings to the table; post game, etc. Harrison is the legitimate true PG at this point.

Unless Parker had a down year at Duke as bad as what Shabazz had at UCLA last season, there's possibly no way "MJ", not Cho would trade back and not take Parker.

He's a very good 2 guard with one of the best mid range shots in the NBA. He can create off the dribble, plays great defense and is a team player. If his 3pt shot gets more reliable then he's a top 10 NBA SG, there's not that many good ones left in the NBA.    His situation is in no way shape or form anything close to Thabo, Shumpert, Manu or Williams. He's better then those players (Manu used to be really good), he's not a 6th man.    Your way undervaluing his play and skill set. Even with the slow start he was still 11th in scoring among 2 guards and was top ten in most of the other stats. If you go off his second half, he was playing like a top 5 NBA SG with out getting the same amount of shots.

He averaged 3-5 shots fewer per game then the guys in the top 10 while averaging 2 points less per game (Minus Bryant, Harden, Wade) This is counting his first half.

If you go off his post All-Star game stats, he was 6th in scoring (with 2 less shots per game), 6th in FG%, 4th in overall scoring, 12th in rebounds, 12th in assists, 21st in steals, 7th in blocks,

Overall for the season, he shot better from the Field compared to J.R Smith, Eric Gordan, Klay Thompson, Derozen, Crawford, Joe Johnson.

Hendo and his situation haven't compared to anyone you've mentioned yet. Keep trying...if you like.
