Niners trading wide receiver A.J. Jenkins to Chiefs

Edit*  Chiefs & 49ers Swap Receivers : The Kansas City Chiefs have traded WR Jon Baldwin to 49ers for WR AJ Jenkins.

AJ Jenkins was in danger of getting cut....I guess the 9ers just cut their losses early

he could be a decent deep threat guy, really dont think he is a fit in a WCO. could play the role of a dJac in andys system tho.

edit- and Baldwin could be what they thought Moss would be last year. big, deep threat target.

It's not only that he was drafted into the wrong system. According to Niner fans, AJ had issues with the simplest aspects of the game. He couldn't get separation whatsoever, and DBs jammed him at the line too frequently.

i dont know about understanding the game aspect. i watched him a lot in the pre draft process last year, and his tape is pretty good. he does have the concepts of how to run routes. i can understand the jamming, which is technical and strength thing tho.i havent seen him since he got drafted because he is not in a panther uni.

If you run a 4.39 and have issues getting open (targeted just once), you're doing something wrong. The fact is the 49ers drafted Jenkins way too early. He was considered to some out there as a third rounder.

again i think that is because of the system. WCO requires precise routes, and i thought he would go in the 2nd, 3rd at latest. size, speed, and production says 2nd.

Part of the issue is that Jenkins is in a WCO but that doesn't excuse his inability to fend off DBs.

true, but again maybe it was the system. im seeing tweets from NFL guys who are now expecting Jenkins to improve because he will have the chance to get vertical up the field more in Andys system.

Von Miller's suspension for violation of the league's substance policy is expected to be at least six games, per sources.

This article outlines what he was likely suspended for:

TLDR;  2 seperate failures to comply with a league issued treatment plan
