Round 1: Gerald Henderson, SG, Duke

King Taharqa

Recommended Posts

Strengths: Very athletic. Strong defender. Quick player. Good mid-range shooter. Good at slashing to the hoop. Good genes - dad played 13 seasons in the NBA. Strong physique. Explosive leaper - attacks the rim. Long wingspan. Very experienced - played for one of the top coaches in the world in one of the top conferences in college. Strong physique. Tough player. Showed ability to be a clutch player in last season’s NCAA tournament. Good shot blocker for a wing player - led Duke in blocks his sophomore year. Solid rebounder for a guard. Has three-point range.

Weaknesses: Will be undersized for the NBA. Very inconsistent. Never been a big-time scorer in college. Never proved he could be “the man” for Duke. Mediocre free throw shooter (much improved his junior year though). A decent ball-handler but it still needs more work. Needs to become more of a long-range threat - doesn’t hit too many threes.

SUCK! I'll never forgive him for breaking Hansbroughs nose with that cheapshot. Bobcat or not, he can go break an ankle for all I care.

lol Henderson didn't intentionally elbow Hansbrough in the nose, and anyone who thinks that is a retard. So I guess it makes sense that you would believe that.

I like the pick...I have always thought he would end up being a more consistent, if not better pro than Williams. He is a smart, tough player that plays d. Those are things that can't be taught. His shooting will improve, but it still sucks we couldn't get a better scorer with the pick. I'm hoping for someone who can come off the bench and put some points on the board in the 2nd round. Meeks can do that, but he plays the same position as Henderson.

Yes, because players always throw their elbows down in full force towards another players face when losing to a hated rival in the final seconds when attempting to get the ball which he was not even close to.

Perfectly clean, no ill intentions at all.

lol yes that's exactly what he was doing, you didn't skew or exaggerate that play at all. I'm sorry, I was wrong.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
