2013 Is The Year of No Excuses

yolo, you hang in there kid, take it from me, it can be tough being hated.

I never said I hated him. If I ever felt that strongly about someone I don't know on the internet then I would probably hate myself.

The guys we have on IR now (except for Stew),are mostly guys that play minor roles or haven't even played a down( aka: the Kug). There are many teams much more f'd up then we are right now.Let's not start finding reasons for any suckiness that may occur even before the first snap. We need some good Karma and we will be okay.

I honestly feel like Gettleman needs several offseasons to put together the right pieces. This past draft and the signings we've had are steps in the right direction. I expect a 9-7 record this year followed by multiple 10+ win seasons

Same here. I trust Gettleman a pot lore than Hurney. Look at what he has done with little time. He's been with us since January I believe. We already have depth at several key positions. The defensive line looks like its primed for a frenzy every week. He is methodically working and shaping this team into a winner. It takes time, and people are tired of waiting. I see a 9-7 season too. Just enough to keep Rivera. Much like the team, he needs time to grow as a coach. The instant gratification crowd does not like that. Get o line help and another weapon for Cam and we will see playoffs every year.

I still feel like the overall talent level on offense at OL and WR and lack of talent at Safety will be detrimental to this team winning very many games till those two issues are fixed. For this team as it's currently built to win 10-12 games and make the playoffs, they need a few WR to make a major impact and improve drastically along with the OL being more consistent. The defense also needs to minimize the major mistakes that have plagued the team at safety over the past few seasons as well.

Pretty much what needs to happen for this team to win is Bell to play well and be an average RT, the guard situation to level itself out and have good play, Ginn Jr, Hixon or Edwards making a big push for the 3rd WR spot while Lafell needs to become a high level #2 instead of a middle of the road - bottom of the totem pole type of #2. On Defense, the DL needs to be itself while the DB and Safety's have to play smart and not make a bunch of mental mistakes. Cam also needs to step it up and quit throwing high so much and be much more consistent and clutch.

If those things don't happen, this is a 7 win team max, if those things happen this team can win enough games to make the playoffs. I really think it's going to take a few seasons to get out from under the cap mess and fix the depth issues that the Panther's have. The biggest key to winning seasons is having depth that can step up and play well, there just isn't any depth at WR, OL or S on this team and those are some major holes that need to be filled before the Panther's are going to have consistent seasons. I have high hopes that Gettleman can fix the issues that have been plaguing the Panther's but it does take a few drafts to build up high level depth.

Good coaches find ways to hide those holes with schemes and compete.

You don't think that the Patriots have had holes, serious ones or the Packers?

Rodgers and Brady help hide holes, while the Packers have had secondary issues and a lack of a RB. The scheme didn't call for a RB to make plays. While they had a good enough pass rush to half way sometimes cover the secondary up, it didn't work all that well till they fixed the issue.      The don't have a stout OL and Rodgers get's hit quite a bit.

The patriots haven't had the best WR in the league but they've had two of the best TE's, decent RB's that do what they do well and Brady covers the lack of talent at WR well.

Cam Newton while on his way up, isn't on their level as a QB. Nor is he a consistent enough passer to mask major holes at wr and the scheme in Carolina makes having a top notch OL a high priority.

The 49ers don't have the greatest weapons. They have some nice players, on par with our own. But they aren't loaded. They busted on some receivers.

They have a loaded OL, they rely on the running game and defense to win games. They also have a freakish athlete at TE that has pretty good hands. They don't need a ton of great weapons at WR with the way the team is built.

Carolina would like to run the ball very effectively, but doesn't have the OL to do so.

Basically what I'm getting at is that the Panther's aren't built correctly to run Rivera's SD based offense.

They don't have the OL or WR's to pull off either scheme consistently with out some players making huge strides. Just way too many holes at both positions to pull it off. The OL is a major killer because it's a key component in both offense's.

In Turner's offense the line has to be able to block long enough for complex deep routes to come open and then be able to open up holes and get leverage in the running game since the running game is largely power based when not running read option.

Now if they run more of what Shula ran in TB, the OL doesn't have the leverage to consistently create big holes to run through.

My points are fair or not, Cam needs to get there sooner rather than later and all teams have holes.

Good QBs can make up for and good coaches can help that along.

Much depends on this in 2013.

If Ron Rivera requires a perfect team in order to be successful, well, I'll be dead and gone before this

team has another winning season.

This offensive coaching staff needs at least 3 running plays that it can run for at least 3 yards at a pop, I don't care if its up the gut, off tackle, or zone read.  It can be the damned GB Sweep, just

find it and do it.   After all the OTAs, pre-training camp meetings, training camp, and pre-season games, I would hope they know what those 3 plays are.
