Taylor one of the top 5 surprises of the summer

Taylor is 24 years old, whereas MKG is only 19. That accounts for the difference in development. Nobody was expecting results from MKG last year. Nobody will be expecting results from him this year. They'll be expecting progress. By the time he's 24, he's going to be an All Star. If Taylor wasn't head and shoulders ahead of MKG at this point it would be cause for massive concern about Taylor. You're comparing a player who played a full college career to one that flew over Kentucky and picked up a NC.

Taylor makes his bones on defense. His shot will never be anything more than league average, as he didn't even shoot an impressive number in college ball. He can be productive in spot duty, but his potential maxes out as a valuable defensive 6th man on any real team. Henderson is only 25, but will turn 26 in December, so if you're looking for comparable players it makes more sense to compare those two directly and it's a no contest at this point in time. Everybody always gets worked up over these fluff articles and the Summer league which really doesn't mean anything, but he's still a valuable piece. Just a role player getting a little love.

Yeah, I agree.  I love that JT played well and that only means positive things in the future for us, but it's the summer league and I'd still rather have GH starting.  JT backing up him and MKG is awesome though and shouldn't be looked down upon.  6th men in the league are huge and very important right now.

I think Taylor can do everything+ that MKG can do. He can jam it, finish in traffic...and his jumper a lot, lot better.

MKG can do things athletically that Taylor couldn't even dream about. He runs the court better and is FAR superior at cutting lanes to the basket.... already.... at 19 years old. I would even argue that MKG is better defensively despite Taylor having the age advantage and basketball experience. And as far as his jumper being better, Ben Gordon shoots a hell of a lot better off the jump than John Wall but I think it's pretty obvious who you'd want.

According to PER (player efficiency rating) MKG had the 29th best season by a teenager in NBA history.

As I said, give it time. I don't know what the hell people were expecting from the youngest player in the NBA. And to also keep in mind that Bismack is the 10th youngest in the league too. Building for the future is exactly what it sounds like. These guys aren't going to be dominant right now.
