Star + Short= playoffs

Recommended Posts

It actually took place on September 30th. I know because that was my wedding day. :

You are correct sir...guess I am still trying to mentally block the data/occasion...that, for you however, on the other hand, would not be wise :)

Hopefully you were at your wedding and not watching that freaking debacle...

My fandom knows no shame. I was watching the final moments as I stood waiting for the preacher to call me up to the alter.

Well less put it this way. With Star and Short added to the lineup this season. Our D just got a whole lot better. Now it is time for our D to rip into olines and QBs. No excuses for this team not to make it to the playoffs. If this team fails this year. Then you mind as well say good bye to Ron and say hello to another 2-3 years of rebuilding this team up again. New HC, New Staff and the works. The next staff would be brought in here would be hired by Dave Gettlemen. So pretty much this is Ron Rivera hot seat year. Playoffs or go home. for Ron and his staff. You know Gettlemen is ready to pull the trigger at the end of the season if Ron fails to make the playoffs.

Respectfully I must disagree with you. I think elite coaches are able to come in and make an immediate impact. Use the colts and San Fran as an example. I don't think we are 2-3 years away from good, I think with the right systems in place, we could be great this year or next!

there will be a learning curve for these rookies, the issue isn't just automatically fixed because we drafted some rookies, it's not madden.

that said, if they fail to be effective enough, then we will be a losing team again. don't have the secondary to make up for that big of a hole at DT and the position was yet again neglected.

Star and Short aren't even guaranteed to be starting.  Right now Edwards and Cole are veterans who could easily start come opening day.  Edward's stats measure up well to most 3 techniques and Cole hasn't played in 2 years but has experience and was pretty effective when he did play the nose. We will be better even as the rookies gets reps and learn.  Keep in mind that Star was rated by many as the best DT in the draft so he might not need that much adjustment.  Short won't start ahead of Edwards but he gives us depth and the future at that position.

So I would disagree that regardless of how they play that the position has been neglected.  The position has been upgraded and should make the D line pretty good this year.  How good remains to be seen.

Tougher schedule this year plus new oc and a hc without a clue about running an offense equals no deep run in the playoffs - it would be nice but just being real.

Except strength of schedule means poo, teams change, and new OC is garbage too its same offense he's making the calls easier for Cam. Your Debbie Downer argument sucks go drink that half-empty glass of lukewarm beer
