Star + Short= playoffs

Recommended Posts

Sorry that such horror and joy will forever be wed in your memory bank.

Yeah years from now most of you will look back and say, "anybody remember that one guy who lost that Atlanta game on the Hail Mary throw?"

Meanwhile the memory of me standing in my wedding tux surrounded by my friends huddled over a small smart phone watching that play happen just moments before I make the biggest change of my life will forever be burned into my retinas for all eternity.

Not saying we'll make the playoffs this year. I'm saying we would have made the playoffs last year if we had won those three games and that those three games would have been won on one play apiece with better interior defensive line play.

That is probably true.

I think the Panthers have a chance this year.

Lot depends on the health of the key play makers on the team, the offensive play calling of Shula (not known how that is going to go), Rivera putting on his big boy pants and being competitive with top coaches (not sure I believe that will happen, but whatever).

I do not put a lot of stock in the last 5-6 games of the year  as 1)  less teams in turns of quality  and b) some had little to play for other than pride.

September will say a lot for the Panthers.  If they escape September 2-2 or 3-1, then they have a chance on the momentum train having mastered a couple of quality teams.

If they come out has they have the past 5 years in September, 0-4 or 1-3, forget about it and Rivera needs to be shown the door.

Not necessarily....Chicago was 10-6 and they didn't make the playoffs. Or have you gone through the tiebreaker scenarios with Minnesota? Unfortunately....10-6 is no guarantee in the NFC with all of the strong teams.

Yes. Our loss to Chicago is one that I say would have changed, making them 9-7. We would have had more NFC wins than Minnesota (only other 10-6 NFC team in wild card hunt).

Yeah, I don't know for sure.  I haven't looked at the tie breaker.  My point being....assuming 10-6 is automatically going to get a NFC playoff birth is probably not safe.  It wouldn't surprise me if the 6th seed wins 11 games this year.

I refuse to be held down by the repressive 'measured optimism' of the national media! The 'well we haven't done well the past 3 years' so we should be worried about the now and the future. "Future power rankings" that refuse to look anywhere but at what we've already done. The Panthers are a minority, we are second class citizens in the NFL and we are acting like it's ok for the media and other teams to 'take their time' to view us as true competitors and the home to some of the future all stars in this league. fug that! Cam Newton is walking through that door. Luke Keuchly is walking through that door! Greg "Da Kraken" Hardy is walking through that motherfugin' door!! Drew Brees isn't gonna be able to outscore us anymore. Matt Ryan is about to be exposed as an overrated anus tart. Josh Freeman isn't gonna be in the NFC SOUTH next year. Star Lotulelei is about to be the keystone of our defense for our dynasty run. It isn't even funny how much more talent we've been accumulating the past few years compared to the rest of the NFC South. The problem with our secondary is they weren't aggressive enough to fight with receivers or to hit hard enough. Our secondary is gonna hit and the other teams fans are gonna hate our obnoxious DBs for years to come.

Every love is your best love. Every year is your best year. There's only one life to live people. It's all happening right now and people are gonna hate our guts for it. I refuse to feel nothing but extreme optimism for this team and I expect us to be in the playoffs this year and every year Cam stays in the league from now on, and that's just the way it's gonna be.

My buddy in the Air Force sent me this, their Sergeant sent them this to get hype to and we should all watch it too.

Well less put it this way. With Star and Short added to the lineup this season. Our D just got a whole lot better. Now it is time for our D to rip into olines and QBs. No excuses for this team not to make it to the playoffs. If this team fails this year. Then you mind as well say good bye to Ron and say hello to another 2-3 years of rebuilding this team up again. New HC, New Staff and the works. The next staff would be brought in here would be hired by Dave Gettlemen. So pretty much this is Ron Rivera hot seat year. Playoffs or go home. for Ron and his staff. You know Gettlemen is ready to pull the trigger at the end of the season if Ron fails to make the playoffs.

Let's just all remember they're rookies coming into their first season. I hope they do well, and I expect them to play their asses off, but I won't hold them to any higher of a standard I would hold any other rookies. To pin playoffs on their shoulders is a bit much to ask of them. I just hope they come out and play like we're hoping they're capable of doing.

If they start the season looking good, anything past that is a bonus in my opinion.

Rookies or not. If Ron wants his job next year. He better start working those rookies hard and get them ready for the season. If Ron fails then there is a real good chance you will see him gone and a while new HC and coaching staff will be in here next year. So the rookie card doesn't have a place in this year team. Either they play well from the beginning of the season or we will be done. AJ Green didn't make no excuses about been a rookie when he played well in his rookie year. I'm sure Star will be fully ready and play like a vet from the start. Short my lag behind a little. That's why Short will be backing up Dwan to start the season and Star starting. I think Star and Short will play good this season.
