Is this not the hardest track out? (Only Rap fans comment)

YOLO!

In regards to deep or storytelling songs, I'm a big Nas fan.

Nas is good, yeah. I'm a big Rakim and Pete Rock fan as far as the "classic" stuff goes.

Modern day, Lupe was remarkable in his debut & sophomore albums, but has since gone a little crazy. Cudi bends the genre but is underrated IMO, although he has started to pull a bit of a Lupe after his first two as well. Kendrick is arguably the best modern day artist in terms of storytelling and raw emotion and honesty. And then I have a huge thing for Prince Ea, but he's underground and nobody ever knows who he is haha.

YOLO is just a troll account, and a pretty terrible one at that.

No sir not a troll, just a Panthers fan posting on a Panthers message board. I mean am I not good enough to post on the Huddle?

We all Panthers fans no need to hate each other.

But Biggie is known for getting gunned down

I just jumped into this thread and saw this comment at random. This is beyond stupid, and it shows your age. Biggie was an icon and his killing was a tragedy. He was on top of the game when he died. He didn't become known for being gunned down.

What an idiotic thing to say.

Didn't/don't disagree with anything you just said. I said he's overrated mainly because he was murdered. Besides, his music isn't all that great to begin with.

He was at the top of the game when he died? So you're saying if someone like 2 Chainz was killed today, a guy who is one of the most "popular" artists in hip-hop right now, he'd automatically have to be regarded as an all time great?

Lil Wayne was at the top of the game for a while. So was Nelly, 50, Nicki Minaj, Macklemore (?)

Would any of them go down as all time greats? I don't believe so, or at least not deservingly.

Same goes for Big Pun. He died near the peak of his popularity, and now he's regarded as one of the best ever. Listen to his music though, it's far from iconic or revolutionary.

Your basis for comparison is from a viewpoint directly skewed by having grown up during the modern evolution of the genre. Biggie was amazing and was revolutionary for the time period. There were also "high play" rappers from that era who were total trash, similar to 2Chainz of today.  Biggie wasn't one of them.
