Where should Buzzcats look to upgrade?

Seriously, the answer to this question a month ago was basically - EVERYWHERE!!! but in the past month we have seen Zeller and Jeff Taylor show that they can provide more than expected. Even MKG's jumper has been improved (going 4-4 from the field last game). Oh yeah, and that Big Al guy is here now too.. (assuming something gets worked out long term with Hendo, or even if he plays under his RFA tender)

So again, i propose the question: Where should the Buzzcats look to upgrade?

Kemba - Sessions

Hendo - Gordon

MKG - Taylor

Zeller - McBob - Adrien

Jefferson - Biz - Haywood

maroon = allstar (we have none BTW)

red = solid/set

orange = suitable (for now)

green = upgrade wouldn't hurt

blue = upgrade definitely needed

pink = why are you even on the team

edit: I changed it a bit since everyone's panties were in a bunch

Really Zeller is solid after 1 summer league game? Lets wait a couple of months into the season before we start saying he's solid.

The only players who is solid should be Jefferson/Walker. MKG made 4 shots in a summer league game, that is good, but I want him to do it a whole season before we say he has truly improved his shot. Everybody else has to prove themselves throughout the season. So we should upgrade at sg/sf/pf.

I don't think there is any question that SG & PG should be our main focus for upgrade.

Right now, although QO is extended to Gerald Henderson, he could sign a lucrative deal that the Bobcats do not match leaving us with only Ben Gordon and Jeff Taylor who can play the 2 guard position with Taylor playing both SG & SF positions.

Ben Gordon & Ramon Sessions are assumed to be gone for sure next season and even if Gerald Henderson signs the QO he will then be an unrestricted free agent next year.  SG and backup PG are major needs in comparison to the 3, 4, & 5 position

First things first, we need to find a shooting guard whether that be Henderson or someone else...

After that, the most logical move would be to upgrade the back-up shooting guard spot in free agency and re-sign Sessions (who is severely underrated)

This all could change though...

Say we are picking fourth in the draft, and Marcus Smart is sitting on the board... you take him, let Sessions walk and upgrade the shooting guard spot in free agency... particularly someone who can knock down a three point shot.

You could go the veteran route and try to sign a veteran shooting guard like Vince Carter, Ray Allen, or Jason Richardson...

You could go the younger route and get a guy like Nick Young

Or my favorite route, use Al Jefferson to lure his buddy Gordon Hayward to Charlotte and run a two-man shooting guard spot.

yes- sign Hendo please..

Sessions is underrated.. he's still young, can drive to the basket with the best of them.. and he was running alongside Kemba and seemed to jive well with him at the end of games..

but i agree if we have Smart sitting there you let him walk.. Carter, Allen or Richardson all seem like bad ideas at this time.. Nick Young i wont even touch.. i live in the DC area and can speak from his time here in DC-- no, just no..

Hayward isn't leaving Utah, but I agree that the signing of Big Al can change our culture here. Kinda like what Amare did for NY.. before Stodemire went to NY- no one wanted to even be rumored going there. it was a graveyard for bad player contracts and coaches.. once Amare went there, then Carmelo, CP3 and Tyson Chandler were all locks to go there.. now im not saying Charlotte is just like the Big Apple, but one signing can show the rest of the league that we are not interested in being the laughing stock of the league anymore

Saw this tweet from Marc Spears of yahoo earlier:

"@SpearsNBAYahoo: Clippers and Bobcats amongst teams that have recently expressed interest in Antawn Jamison, a source said."

So even though we all want a guard, the front office might still be looking at the frontcourt. But really it is probably more of just getting a solid vet/locker room presence at the right price

There has to be some give and take, you can't have an all-star at every position...

You can go the young route and grab a guy like Nick Young, who has matured since his days in Washington (which was quite some time ago).

You can go the veteran route and sign someone like Ray Allen, Jason Richardson, or Vince Carter (who averaged 13 points per game last year).

Or you can try to lure Gordon Hayward out of Utah by giving him the chance to play with his buddy Al Jefferson.

There are a few college shooting guards like James Young, Gary Harris, Andrew Harrison, and Wayne Selden that could be worth looks; but regardless if you want to upgrade the position there has to be a little give and take.
