Pretty interesting article on Deadspin about Rae Carruth

It's pretty long, but Deadspin dug up a 2001 GQ article about the story of the Rae Carruth murder case, and they threw in some observations of the article now that it's 2013.

Reading the article, Carruth really seems more clinically insane than even I had thought when the case was actually happening.

if you didn't realize he was clinically insane before reading that article than i don't know what to tell you. it's a sensitive subject about the worst crime an NFL player has ever committed. And he was a Panther. Of course people on this board are going to react disdainfully.

Didn't say I didn't think he was clinically insane, I said after reading the article and learning more things about him than I'd known (such as direct quotes from conversations from his girlfriend that I knew about, but didn't know she was interviewed by the media), he was worse than even I'd thought. The gist of what I was saying was that he was crazy, but after reading about it more in depth, it really hit home.

I don't care if people react disdainfully, it's expected in the offseason on this board..I've been here long enough to know that. Article is still interesting, however.

Well technically if he was clinically insane he would have been sentenced accordingly.

    • Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.  Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples. Tershawn Wharton - 26 Tre'von Moehrig - 25 Pat Jones II - 26 Bobby Brown III - 24 Michael Jackson - 28 Jaycee Horn - 25 Tommy Tremble - 24 We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26. Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.  The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team. Pick 8 (stay) Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson Trade down: There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down. Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.
    • Honestly, I couod see Pittsburgh  moving all the way to 3 to get Sanders. Their window is now and Tomlin  clock is ticking. Their roster doesn't have many holes, so picks shouldn't worry them.  Depends on the Giants mindset but they could bend them over and get future 1st since they don't have any 2nds.
    • I sometimes question why the mention height when most edge defenders are around 6'2.   Maybe it's bc he was a senior and then are nitpicking.
