Stewart

Not really worried about Stewie, dude has never practiced but always performs....

The question I do have is why do players wait for so late in the offseason for surgery? Can't they go under the knife in March?? Why wait til this point to get the work done? I have always wondered this, Otah really made me want an answer... Do we know when Stew had these procedures done?

I think it has something to do with when they're allowed to see team doctors/specialists or something along those lines.

Stewart has created a no lose situation for the fans that defend him. They get to say "he has only missed a couple of games the last few seasons so he does not have injury problems" and then turn around and say 'he didn't produce that well because he was injured"

I hope he gets healthy and can be the back he has shown glimpses of in the past. I am pulling for him.

Stewart had ankle surgery in January, he still hasn't fully rehab from that surgery is what Rivera is saying.

Two bad contracts at the RB position, smh. Toe injuries usually linger throughout careers and this is his third or second operation on it.

didnt persons tweet say surgery on Both ankles?

Maybe he needs to get some one to bolt his legs together below the knees like they did Kasay.

P

Eh, last season was truly the only season where he was hampered with injuries. In most cases, Stewart overcomes an injury and still rushes for 80-100 yards. The guy is tough as nails. The O-Line didn't do him any favors last season either though. Williams and Tolbert were having equally underwhelming 2012 campaigns too (prior to the final 2-3 games).

Overall, Stewart has proven to be the more durable back thus far.

O games in 2012 with more than 51 yards. Missed 7 games started 6.

3 games with more than 70 yards in 2011.Started 3 games missed 0.

2 games in the 100s and 2 in the 90s in 2010.started 7 games missed 2.

8 games with more than 80 yards in 2009. Started 3 games missed none.

So Stewart in the last 64 game opportunities has 14 games with more than 70 yards of those 7 were more than 100 yards. He played in 55 but only started 19.

Williams had 2 games over 90 yards missed 0 and started 9 games in 2012.

He had 3 games over 80 yards started 14 games missed none in 2011.

He had 1 game over 80 yards started 6 games and missed 10 games.

he had 8 games with 80 yards or more started 13 games missed 3.

In summary of 64 opportunities he had 14 games with 80 yards or more. He started 42 games and missed 13 games.

Neither back has been that durable or productive in the last 4 years outside of 2009. Combined they have often went over 100 yards but individually not often in the last 3 years. Neither has earned their moneyehe last 3 years.

Stewart is one of my favorite Panthers, but I'm really excited to see Tauren Poole in the preseason this year. I think he looked like our best back in preseason last year and I hope he gets more playing time this preseason.

tauren poole is the 5th best option on our roster

i think these surgeries were a long time coming with his feet/ankle problems. Get this dude 100% because he is an absolute freak when healthy. We have enough backs to do what we need to do while he recovers completely.

Why does everyone think Stewart is a freak when healthy?  In the last 4 years he has had 7 games where he rushed for more than 100 yards.  How does that make him a freak?   Look at what Adrian Peterson has done in the last 3 years and that is a freak. When Stewart averages 5 yards a carry and carries the ball 300 times a season for 2 or 3 seasons then we can talk about him being elite.  Until then you could argue that the only reason he has been as durable as he has been was because he is not used that much and only averaged 5 starts a season over the last 4 years.
