Training Camp Match-Ups: What To Watch For.

Recommended Posts

I'm looking forward to seeing who comes out as our number one corner, who plays the best at SS (really hoping it's Lester), and if Huddle favorite David Gettis can prove me wrong and make this roster and hopefully contribute.

Also I'm mildly intrigued to see were Kugzilla is at. I don't expect him to start Day 1, but I forsee by season's end him getting some reps.

Hardy plays RE, try again

You double  sure about that? He's listed as a LDE everywhere I can find. Yes, they switch about some but he's the LDE and Johnson the RDE. Just look at the game day playbooks pdf files on Panthers.com.

I will admit that I did not notice the tendency for Hardy to play on the right. But he is listed by the team as the starter at LDE and that is what he predominantly played up until this year. You can find footage of him playing LDE this season just searching for specific game footage. There is at least one in the youtube you posted.

hmmm i'll check it out. I tend to just watch the dline when defense is on.  i have never once noticed hardy playing where charles does. sometimes it gets confusing cause he gets pushed inside. but that is kind of strange.  it has been said around here and i have said Hardy has a harder job of getting to the qb because he plays against elite left tackles.

I saw #92 and forgot all about Dwan Edwards everytime I think about our DL I get excited (even though I was mad as hell when we double dipped). Now I go through all the combinations through my head and I get more and more excited. Charles Johnson(DE) Greg Hardy(DT) Dwan Edwards(DT) Frank Alexander (DE) how the hell is a quarterback expected to live through that. Ok so the teams can't pass, so let's see them run Charles Johnson (DE) Star (DT) Short (DT) then Greg Hardy (DE) how the hell is a team spose to get past that line, then if they do who is waiting for them? Only the best LB core in the game (besides 49ers).

I'm ready to see our CBs go at it with those receivers. I think the rest of our team is pretty set.

Ya Hardy predominantly plays on the right side of the defense unless he is in the middle. Either way he does work.

I always envision it with Hardy on the left in my memory. Team bios state that Hardy started on the left in 2011 and Johnson on the right but in 2012 it doesn't give that distinction. You have to go to the game day pdf files to look at who started what each game. It does appear via game highlights that Hardy played mostly right though.

I really think that it will do us well having Davis on the strongside covering the TE. He is so athletic, the change from Anderson to him there will really change the success that the TE has had against us. I think Beason will do well covering a back in the flat from the weakside.

No doubt man I think TD will and should be our main linebacker in coverage especially considering he played safety at UGA....I'm just curious to see how Beason does whenever he is in coverage because I think that will show kinda if he's back to where he was or if he isn't what he used to be.

I'm over here just hoping that things will finally fall into place for us ie half our team doesn't get injured...Another receiver steps up/our secondary plays above average/Cam keeps Camming

I just hope Smitty doesnt get hurt any time during the season - if he does we are fugging fugked

1: we could probably get by with olsen, using the rbs as more of a receiving threat, and then generally hoping one of the other clods at wr could actually do something.  but.

2:

we are a black cat logo team who had the opportunity, but were snubbed, by a quarterback named luck when we had the first overall pick.  the symbolism in this is, of course, is that even luck snubs us when we need it most, and you want to incur a jinx by talking about smitty getting hurt?

madness.  utter madness.

granted, i'm over-protective, as he's my favorite player and our franchise's version of jerry rice, imo, in that we'll probably never see another receiver as great or as dominant as he was, but still.
