Is This the Worst "Popular" Song, EVER?

Thriftshop is worse..

Have you not heard of Pitbull? Actually anything he is attached to is automatically the worst thing I have ever heard.

Also...

Lil Wayne, most new trap-beat hip-hop (like French Montana), Fun, Of Monsters and Men, and any of this new wave of folky sounding pop music...

I still say Macklemore is terribly overrated, overplayed, and pretty much annoying...

Just to compare imo, this is random as hell but worth thinking about:

Now, compare the precision, harmonies, and overall composition to the typical new indie pop track.

Style, nostalgia, and repetition have certain effects on generation by generation

Im a fan of Monsters and men and the whole steam punk folk thing... Simply bc it brings actual musicians to mainstream radio and tv.

If you dont like the music fine.. But guys actually creating music, writing their own songs was a dying breed for a second/autotuned.

Oh I agree with all of that. I like them as musicians. I just think they are terribly overplayed and somewhat overrated.

Of course, anything that makes it to the radio is overplayed, I guess.

i remember when crank dat was popular in high school. someone would get called in to the office or something and people would jokingly say "awwwwwwww" and there would always be one mother fuger that would stand up and just absolutely scream "YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

Yeah I was a senior in high school when this song came out. It was the most popular song, every high school would play this song at the football/basketball games.

Macklemore is awful, and yet living proof that many people are still getting suckered into the formulaic, overexposed white boy bro rap persona. Same poo we've seen a billion times over in the last 20 or so years, and it's been more annoyingly persistent than 80s revival since the 2000s

Have you actually listened to more than just thrift shop? The dude has some very good songs out there that tackle a lot of tough issues that most(mainstream) rappers wouldn't have the balls to touch. I am not saying he is an all time great but compared to the majority of popular rappers he is a nice change of pace.
