Hendo Gone?

I will say this, Bonnell has always been a Henderson supporter so even if he truly doesn't know anything; I would expect him to back Henderson.

Ric would at least have something on this by now. Everytime a national Guy post something about the Bobcats. Ric has always been quick to confirm or destroy the report.

As far as that list goes, I went through each team and out of the 30, only Boston, Detroit, Golden State, Toronto, New Orleans, Orlando, and Oklahoma City are truly two deep at shooting guard (with young guys that have potential)...

Boston: Jordan Crawford and MarShon Brooks

Detroit: Rodney Stuckey and Kim English

Golden State: Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala

Toronto: DeMar Derozan and Terrence Ross

New Orleans: Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans

Orlando: Arron Afflalo and Victor Oladipo

Oklahoma City: Jeremy Lamb and Thabo Sefolosha

Hopefully one of these teams would part with one of their shooting guards for ours.

If you go the free agent route, Alan Anderson and Nick Young are the only two decent options... and both would just be stop gaps.

Everything with a line thru it would be a "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR fuging MIND" move. I would rather us sign Sher Swoops then give a dime or Hendo for these BUMS!!!

That would be stupid, Hendo just want's a 5 year deal worth 40 Million, give it to him.

He would probably settle for 5yrs/37.5mil.

Realistically we could give Henderson a 5yr/37.5 million (7.5 million a year) dollar contract and only be over the salary cap by $1,607,451 which isn't bad at all. Especially considering the fact that we have two $13mil+ contracts on our roster.

Wow what a change of events. Thought for sure hendo would be signing soon. Dayum. I mean it's kinda exciting.

But I think we might try to roll with Ben Gordon and get his stock up and trade him but then again is he really that valuable or is he just a nice expiring. Who knows.

I wouldn't be too upset with monta coming here just Bc the fact that we would have two guys that are all star caliber players and decent big names that chose us. Which is crazy. I'm used to different poo. Not saying that's what I want. I would sooooooo much prefer Klay from GS or Ross or derozan. But hell I ain't gonna complain. This is just exciting.

This could be a leverage play.

My take on this? Unless we rescinded our qualifying offer (I didn't read all 10 pages so let me know if we did) I am still fairly confident we will retain Hendo.

I am big fan of Hendo but if we lose him it isn't the end of the world as long as we use his money wisely.

Bonnell has spoken

http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2013/07/source-charlotte-bobcats-prefer-retaining-gerald-henderson-but-would-explore-trade-options.html

While the Charlotte Bobcats still hope to re-sign restricted free agent Gerald Henderson, the team is prepared to consider other options, such as a sign-and-trade, an informed source said Thursday morning.

Bobcats management and Henderson’s representatives met by telephone Wednesday to discuss what Henderson wants and what the team might be prepared to pay him in a new deal.

Yahoo Sports reported overnight that the two sides appear to be at an impasse, pushing the team toward sign-and-trade options to get something for Henderson.

The source, speaking to the Observer on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject, said the Bobcats’ first preference is still to keep Henderson, but that other options should at least be explored.

Henderson, with the longest tenure on the Bobcats’ roster at four seasons, had a strong finish last spring. He scored in double figures in each of the Bobcats’ last 24 games, including 10 games of 20 or more points.

Lucrative deals signed by Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan ($9.5 million average) and new New Orleans Pelican Tyreke Evans (a reported $8 million-plus per season) have seemingly raised the asking price for young free-agent guards.

Henderson said at the conclusion of last season he’d like to re-sign with the Bobcats, in part because he’d prefer to be part of the solution after two seasons when the team went 28-120.

If the Bobcats delve deeply into sign-and-trade options, it could potentially rekindle their interest in Monta Ellis, an unrestricted free agent who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks. Bobcats president of basketball operations Rod Higgins was in the Golden State Warriors’ front office when that team drafted Ellis in 2005, out of high school in Mississippi.

Ellis reportedly has parted with long-time agent Jeff Fried, after being disappointed by the market interest in his free-agency this summer. Ellis averaged 19.2 points and six assists last season with the Bucks, following a March 2012 trade from the Warriors.

Ellis is 6-3 and 175 pounds, so if he became a Bobcat, the team would have a particularly small backcourt. The Bobcats have featured Kemba Walker, a 6-foot point guard with a scorer’s mentality, as its emerging star.
