Know any good wedding bands?

Currently looking everywhere for the perfect wedding band. I've seen some good stuff out of Greensboro but haven't checked out Charlotte bands yet. Looking for a band with some soul/funk influences...not just typical wedding top 40 cover stuff. Our price range is around $2-5k.

Any recommendations?

Yea I believe that. My fiancé really wants the band, maybe I'll be able to convince her otherwise.

Is it in Charlotte?

If so, call Vinny with Split Second Sound. He also does the music for the Panthers in the booth on game days. He is awesome.

Atlantic Beach, NC. I'll look into that though...haven't been impressed with dj's out of Eastern NC. I don't think they understand we don't want one country or beach music song.

Ah yes, Beach Music. Otherwise known as soulless motown for white people.

Check out the Central Park Band... http://www.thecentralparkband.com/home

They started out as a beach music/cover band back in the days when my dad was one of the founders, but they have progressed over the years into pretty much a play-it-all band. Pops is no longer with them, hasn't been for a long time, but one of the guys was like my uncle when I was growing up.

We just hired this band to perform at a 60th birthday party for my dad and they were fantastic. They play lots of different styles of music. I believe they're based out of Virginia, but they travel all over the Carolinas to play. They interact well with a crowd, and are pretty affordable, too. Highly recommended.

This is one of the better booking agencies in the charlotte area.  They employ bands from all over and are reasonable with their rates.  Might give them a look, and hey, one of my bands is on there, but I won't tell you who we are.

Also, I personally agree with the DJ comments.  People at weddings want to dance to familiar music, and it's tough for a live band to cover all the songs that people like to hear and do it well.  Plus a DJ will be cheaper, rightly so.

    • Because being a pauper in the NFL is still making a king's ransom. NFL vet min is roughly 18x the median salary in the U.S.
    • At some point I sense it's gonna create some hate and locker room cancer between these cap hogs and the rest of the players. When the top 6 or 7 players take 80% of the cap, the other 40 plus guys are gonna get pissed off, especially when they're still only winning 5 or 6 games. Why put everything on the line to play with guys who are only in it for themselves?
    • I am just spitballing here--let it play out and I will go to bed: Let's say Mahome's contract comes due and he insists on $100m per season.  Is there a team that would find the money to pay it?  Would KC? It was in 2015 (I think) when Cam was getting $20m and it was hard to grasp.  In the past decade, the price of a franchise QB has tripled.  Then the next QB bases his contract on the Mahomes deal.  The trend has been the last QB contract is the highest.  I see nothing to discourage that trend--Greed can destroy a league.  Personally, I don't watch baseball any more, and the NBA has a small group of about 8 teams that appear on national TV and they have players who make more than some eastern block countries.  Ticket prices go up---and we are headed for pay-per-view very soon across the board-
