Carolina Panthers Training Camp

Cant tell you how many times I have seen this.

I'm 20, but I'm only 5'7, so I look like a high school kid... so it's easy for me to get autographs. I was getting Smitty's auto last year when a women just cut through everyone and shoved a ball for Steve to sign right in his face, and he just walked away from her.

He doesn't play games.

He gives you respect if you give him respect.

For all the autograph seekers. Being Polite will get you very far. As for Smitty he is kinda hit or miss with Auto's. He usually signs for kids. So if your an adult and have children, your best bet of obtaining Smitty's auto, is to have your kid ask him. Remember to be polite! Try not to call the player by their 1st name (its not like you know them on a 1st name basis anyway) saying Mr. and please really increases your odds. And also from my past experiences, try to get the auto before they practice. I cant tell you how many times I have gotten crappy autos from players sweating on the stuff i had them sign, not to mention its gross. Good luck to everyone! And also please don't be that grown ass man in the crowd begging for an article of a players clothing.....have some damn shame! And yes i have witnessed grown men doing this every time Ive been to camp.

Looking forward to making it down again this year. I've not had as much of an issue with bugs that everyone else seems to have, but the heat is brutal indeed. Especially for those 3pm practices. I always stop on the way in for an iced coffee at the Starbucks there on the corner. Also, if you get to an early session check out the merchandise tent. You can find some really great deals. There will probably be some reduced Gamble jerseys this year.

If you've never been, prepare yourself for a constant stream of kids (and, sadly, adults) yelling and calling "Caaaam! Caaaaaaam! Cam! CAAAAAAAAAM!" from the time he appears until when he leaves. Especially in the dead/autograph time.

Otherwise it's a good time.

Once again it is time to get a first look at our Carolina Panthers.

Their practice schedule is listed here...

Here are a few tips you won't read on the Panthers official webpage....

- Autographs are given before and after practices. Line up at the fence near the athletic buildings about an hour before the scheduled practice. Not all players will sign. Some of the regulars that will sign most of the time are Steve Smith, Jon Beason, Jordan Gross, and Deangelo Williams. Ron RIvera will also usually sign.

- Kids are given priority during autograph time, as they should be. If you are an adult trying to push aside a child you will be called out and shamed for it.

- When you first arrive, look for the video cameras at the top of the large blue lifts. Whichever field they are pointing at will be the field that sees most of the action that day. Pick your spot accordingly.

- Bug spray, bug spray, bug spray, bug.... spray.

- If you visit the Beacon restaurant, be sure to say "a plenty" after your order to ensure maximum heart clogging damage

- Cameras are allowed, but video cameras are not. You may be asked to put them down.

- If it seems like players are ignoring you and your screams at them during practice, its because they are. They are there to work, not to listen to your opinions.

- Shade is at a premium. Get there early to grab a spot under one of the trees on the hill.

This is my first year attending training camp. I'm going down later in the schedule with my brother to see a couple practices. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm biased because my chick used to live there, but next time I go back for training camp I'm going to stay in downtown Greenville, about 30 mins down the road from Spartanburg. It's a gorgeous little town with a big historic district full of awesome bars and restaurants. It's not like you can hang out with the players at night, so you might as well get a hotel somewhere nice.
