Ron Jaworski thinks Cam Newton is the 18th best QB in football.

I am not going to get too upset over this ranking at this time. But for a QB who had arguably the 2 best seasons to start a career to be rated behind other young QBs does seem odd. It must be that pesky start to last year that put him so low.

Potentially, Cam is through the roof. But as of right now, he is as good, or better, than any of the young guns out there. You have to give the vets credit in a list like this. Cam will get there. Oh yeah, Cam is going to get there.

For the most part you cannot really make sense of some of these rankings. If you are ranking Cam lower than some of the vets due to a limited body of work, why would you then rank him lower than the rookies who he has a better body of work than?

Anyways, I hope Cam continues to improve, he is not there yet. This season and maybe the next should give us an idea if he can ever be that great.

Cam will only get the respect he deserves when the team wins 10 games and are NFC South Champions. Or at least get to the playoffs

Actually, no. They'll credit the defense, OL, WR, punter, kicker, simplifying the offense(coaching),.........

Anyone catch who came in at #19?

Here's the list to date:

18. Cam Newton, Panthers

19.

20. Alex Smith, Chiefs

21. Josh Freeman, Buccaneers

22. Sam Bradford, Rams

23. Carson Palmer, Cardinals

24. Ryan Tannehill, Dolphins

25. Michael Vick, Eagles

26. Brandon Weeden, Browns

27. Christian Ponder, Vikings

28. Mark Sanchez, Jets

29. Chad Henne, Jaguars

30. Kevin Kolb, Bills

31. Jake Locker, Titans

32. Matt Flynn, Raiders

Remaining...

Aaron Rodgers, Packers

Andrew Luck, Colts

Andy Dalton, Bengals

Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers

Colin Kaepernick, 49ers

Drew Brees, Saints

Eli Manning, Giants

Jay Cutler, Bears

Joe Flacco, Ravens

Matt Ryan, Falcons

Matt Schaub, Texans

Matt Stafford, Lions

Peyton Manning, Broncos

Philip Rivers, Chargers

Robert Griffin III, Redskins

Russell Wilson, Seahawks

Tom Brady, Patriots

Tony Romo, Cowboys

How many of those guys who are remaining can you really put Newton ahead of, unless you're going on potential?  All of them have been to the playoffs, and most of them have built up an impressive body of work.

I think Newton will eventually be one of the game's greats, but if you were making the list, where would you honestly put him right now?

Then how come Cam was voted by his peers as the 46 ranked player and top 10 QB in the league? Should we take the word of 1600 players or the word of one guy? ummmm! Difficult decision!

This is what makes football so arbitrary. Unlike basketball or soccer you're not allowed to look at two athletes and determine who is better until they play a certain number of years amassing a certain number of yards because Jaws will disagree with you. F%%ck him!

These are the same guys that put Tebow at #95, right?

I'll stand by my earlier question.  What fan bases that have QBs ranked ahead of Cam would trade their starting QB for him for next year only?  Honestly, I don't think you would find a taker.

With that said, if you extended it out to the next five years, I bet you would get more than a few.  Cam's got more potential than just about any QB in the league.  But he needs to live up to it and make those final completions vs. the Seahawks and Chiefs, or hold on to the ball against Atlanta before we can count him among the elite.

Are you seriously trying to discredit the opinion of the players who actually play the game, lol. There's very few GM's in the league who wouldn't cream their pants at the opportunity to have Cam Newton as their starting QB.
