Ron Jaworski thinks Cam Newton is the 18th best QB in football.

Recommended Posts

Did you guys with all the opinions watch the segment?

Jaws said over and over that Cam had a ton of potential, but made a lot of mistakes, thus the ranking.

Not based on potential here, but results. So far, not getting to .500 is not actually, results. He should be able to move ahead this season, hopefully in a big way.

The guy I see dropping is Stafford. His Oline is nothing and he is getting more erratic each season.

Jaws is smart enough to know that the record our team had is more of a reflection on the team itself than Cam.

This ranking kinda stinks of him trying to stir up controversy or something.

Putting him at 18 puts him in the bottom half of the league; this is idiotic. :P

I won't argue too much with this based on last season. Cam isn't the most accurate QB in terms of precision passing, which is surely what an ex-QB like Jaws looks for when ranking QB's. I'm almost certain he likely doesn't take rushing yards/TD's into account - at least not as much as they impact the game and make Cam much more dangerous than most QB's with his passing skills would be.

I think 15 would be more accurate, but 18 isn't as far off as many here are making it out to be. There's a bit of a logjam in the 12-18 range anyway. Most of those guys in that range are basically interchangeable.

Jaws is saying the same think that we say here he has tons of potential but needs to limit his mistakes. I think thatbis very accurate. If he had not fumbled against Atlanta in the first game and had not thrown the ball in the dirt in the Seattle game we would have been 9-7 and he probably would have been in the top ten.

As I look at the list of guys left, only Stafford would rank below Cam. Of course below him is Alex Smith who I think should be above Cam. So 18 is about right.

Next season, I think he makes it to the 10-12 range.

yes benching a second year quarterback in favor of DA is just great.

Because you know he didn't progress as a qb those last two games.....oh wait.  Think about what he did in those last two games(specifically New Orleans, but Oakland as well) that would have been taken away if Rivera pulled your idiot idea.

more reps for Cam=him figuring poo out. maturing, leading our team.

And stop comparing other sports that have 162 games and 82 games to a sport that has 16 games a season.  so dumb.
