Ron Jaworski thinks Cam Newton is the 18th best QB in football.

I agree

He wont even get it then, people are gonna using anything they can to continue to put him down even the most irrelevant things. First it was he couldnt play in the NFL at all, then it went to he sucks because he cant win, towel and me first guy. How you will be perceived in the league is outlined when you come in and it doesnt change for most of your career. Thats Just how it is, Cam was defined as a bad guy before he was drafted. As fans we have to understand this and pay it no mind from here on out, we will be better off.

He will get their respect and if he doesnt who cares, as long as we win.  Every team and fan in the SEC hated him, but I didnt care because he ran it down their throats and shredded most of their secondaries through the air. I think he needs another year or 2 to get the full speed, tempo and dynamics at this level, especially for his style of play.  It is a big adjustment for most QBs but I think guys like Cam it can be even tougher.  He is a good passer but has always had the threat of not only running, but running through and over middle linebackers, and that was in the SEC, now he has the same abilities or better, but he is not going to run over players at will.  In the SEC he was a man among boys and now he is a man among men...That said, he still has way more tools and abilities that a majority of QBs in the NFL imo.  He is an accurate passer, not the best, but accurate.  I went to every game he played in at Auburn and I was starting to see that same Cam towards the end of last season at Carolina.

I saw that Jaws' list is complete, and they did a poll on SportsNation to see what users thought of the list and how they compare.

Cam came in at #18 on that list as well. But I don't know how anyone could take that seriously when out of the 8,500 + votes that Sam Bradford was listed as the #1 in the league on 1,100 of them (10th overall). That puts him for 3rd most in the first place votes behind Rodgers and Peyton, he got 5 times as many first place votes as Drew Brees. Also notable was that Mark Sanchez got more first place votes than Joe Flacco and Christian Ponder had the same # of first place votes.

his hype from college and the just too perfect storyline about how he's the spiritual successor to unitas and manning has warped things so much.

if ryan tannehill or jake locker or some other "2nd tier" young quarterback had the exact same season including what occurred in the playoffs every article would be about how they need to "step it up" in year 2.
