Just got done watchin Nfl Live. And John Clayton said that Peppers is trying to sign a long term deal with the Panthers. What a change of heart or he's finally thinking on his own without his agent.

Did he actually say "trying"?

Last we heard he was "open" but "trying" would be a whole new thing.

that is an interesting choice of words. it has to be something else, doesn't it?

I heard the word "open" on NFL Live last night. I also heard Clayton say it was a bit of a stretch that we would be able to get something done in the time frame allowed - July 15th is the deadline. I expect Peppers to play under his tag this year, but I've been wrong once or twice before.
