Keeping Up With The Bobcats Salary Space

Recommended Posts

I'd be pretty upset if we gave Hendo a 9 mil contact after seeing JR's 4yr/24mil. And, I'm not compare Hendo to look at Evans or J.J. We'll clearly be overpaying Hendo at that price and he could very well become a "bad contract" in a year or two. At this time, Hendo isn't gaining much interest from other teams too.

J.R. took a pay cut to stay in New York, it was pretty well documented. You can't compare Hendo's contract to Smith's because Hendo won't be taking a pay cut to stay in Charlotte.

It's also incorrect that Hendo is not receiving interest. I've stated millions of times that RFA's will not start receiving interest until July 10th because that is the earliest that another team can offer them a contract. UFA's have the ability to agree on a contract way before RFA's, they just can't sign that contract until July 10th. This is also why you aren't seeing Pekovic's name very much either.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just wouldn't throw a offer yet at Hendo unless other teams are really showing interests in signing him.

10 mil would be a ridiculous contract. 9 mil would mean that we put him on the same level as a Demar DeRozen. 8 mil would be ideally fair, and 7 would be great. 9 or above would be a bad contract in 2 years bc I can't see him as a long term answer on this team. Especially with the us having stability at PG, SF, PF, and Center that leaves SG as the most important position next season. SG is pretty much going to be address in the draft (Wiggins/Parker/Smart/Harrison). Unless you plan on paying 9 mil for a 6th man off the bench a year or two from now?

Agreed, and right now his qualifying offer is only at $4.2 million. If he truly doesn't receive much interest and his contract stays relatively low, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bobcats sent an offer Tyler Hansbrough's way.

I have no life lol... aka my family is out of town for the 4th... I might as well stay busy.

Ok really enjoy this thread so im glad you got time on your hands.

WIth the way Cho is staggering contracts, I think we will be with the same team through 2016 + draft picks. We might pick up mid lvl Ramon Sessions type players, but with Kemba and Biz on the horizon I feel like the FO will want to use Ben Gordon's money to try and pay for both Kemba and Sessions. Biz hasn't shown enough for a raise so he will probably be around the same $4m-6m range.

In 2016 we can use Al's money for MKG and possibly Zeller. Overall, spend it while we can!

2014

Minus

Ben Gordon $13k

Ramon Sessions $5k

2015

Plus new contracts to Kemba and Biz

2016

MKG Contract

Al expires

I pretty much agree with everything you said.

In 2014 we are looking at approximately $18,200,000 dollars in cap space or $19,116,099 dollars in cap space depending on if Jeff Adrien is on the roster for this year. For the sake of the argument, we'll say that Adrien is kept on the roster this year.

- Gordon is most likely gone unless he wants to play for real cheap and is still okay being a backup on a very young team.

- I think Ramon will re-sign with us simply because he likes the area of the Carolina's. Sessions will be 28, I could see a 3yr/13.5million dollar contract (4.5 million per year) coming his way. This leaves us with $14,616,099 dollars in cap room.

- Adrien may or may not be brought back, if he is; it will be for less than a million. This leaves us with $13,616,099 dollars in cap room.

- Kemba and Biz are making a combine $6,000,000 dollars. Biz is probably looking at a $5,000,000 dollar deal, where Kemba is most likely looking at a deal worth $10,000,000 or $11,000,000 dollars. So realistically, you are going to want to hold out around $10,000,000 dollars from next years cap room to sign Kemba and Biyombo.

- We may sign a bargain bin free agent, but realistically... the only players we are going to be able to add are in the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Hornets packaged one of their first round draft picks and Brendan Haywood (expiring contract) for a good player that is still on their rookie salary, so that the Cats aren't forced to sign three draft picks if they actually end up getting all three.

It's really going to all depend on Gerald Henderson's final contract as to what the next step will be... I want him to get paid, but as a fan; I want that contract to be as low as possible because it allows us a lot more flexibility if the contract is in the seven million dollar range instead of the nine or ten million dollar range.

However, with the Bucks finalizing a deal with O.J. Mayo, Gerald Henderson is really the only option left as far as big time shooting guards go.

After using advanced statistics, Gerald Henderson graded out as the second best shooting guard in this free agent class behind J.R. Smith.

We already walked away with the second best shooting guard in this free agency class, keeping the second best shooting guard in this free agency class would just be icing on the cake.

If Charlotte gets all three of those draft picks next season that's going to cost around 7+ Million depending on where the Charlotte pick lands.

Yep, which could really hurt. That's why I wouldn't be surprised at all to see one of those picks (most likely Detroit's pick) moved along with Brendan Haywood for a player that is still on his rookie contract or at the very least a very cap friendly contract.

I could see a draft day trade like the following going down... In the following trades, we essentially save two million dollars by trading the pick.

Brendan Haywood (expiring contract) and Detroit's pick for one of the following players with expiring contracts: Avery Bradley, Jordan Crawford, MarShon Brooks, Kyle Singler, C.J. Miles, or Kevin Seraphin.

Neither of the trades are really good for us, but the trade is more for the purposes of saving money.

If we're lucky, Detroit sucks ass this year.
