2013 NBA Free Agency News

Barnes looked great in the playoffs, he showed flashes of a James Worthy type game.  Big enough to handle most PFs on defense and on offense he is really great at playing off the ball, spacing the court, and attacking the rim when the opportunity comes.  He's not really a go to guy who can create his own offense, but if you dont ask him to he will be great.

• From Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

The Hawks agreed to terms with free agent Paul Millsap late Friday night, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has learned.

The deal for the 6-foot-8 power forward will be for two years and $19 million, according to a person familiar with the situation.

The agreement with Millsap came hours after the Jazz renounced his rights upon agreeing to a trade with the Warriors. In that deal, the Jazz obtained the expiring contracts of Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins and Brandon Rush. Millsap made $8.6 million last season and had an $11 million cap hold.

• Royce White, the talented but troubled first round draft pick of the Rockets in 2012, has been traded to the Sixers, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Philadelphia will receive the draft rights to international prospect Furkan Aldemir and cash in addition to White, while the Rockets will clear White’s $1.7 million from the books in exchange for “future draft considerations.”

Yeah that's all I could figure, is that they're okay with letting Al And Milsap go because they're handing the keys over to the young guys. But, they took on Biedrins AND Richard Jefferson on top of that. Getting Trey Burke was a nice move but, I just don't think letting both your starters at the 4 and 5 is a good idea. From the times I've seen Kanter and Favors play, I didn't see anything special... I know they're both still really young but, still...

They picked up $20 mil in expiring contracts, 2 first round picks, and they'll have Marvin Williams coming off the books next year.  They're in a great place to start a rebuilding process around Kanter/Favors/Hayward/Burke and they should have enough cap space to make a splash in free agency if they want to.

Calderon to the Mavs is a good deal for them.  Jose is a really underrated PG.  I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do much else this off season and try to make a splash next year.

OJ got 8 mill a year, but some were willing to give Henderson 10 mill a year?

Exactly. But some people wanna believe stats.

Stats don't lie but it is deceiving. It don't tells everything. Hendo is worth no more than 6 mil.

Stats may be similar, but Mayo played with talented players throughout his career. Hendo been on the bobcats. Anything, you could argue that Hendo should have had better numbers.
