Did we overpay for Jefferson... No, I believe he would have received comparable contract anywhere

Was there better value available in Hickson... yes. $5M a year is less than half of what we are paying Jefferson, but his offense is not nearly as polilshed as Jeffersons.

Does that mean it was the wrong move?  Time will tell, it mainly depends on how JJ Hickson progresses as we know we are getting a 20-10 guy with Jefferson.

Sources briefed on the situation told ESPN.com that the Hawks and Bucks have in recent days discussed a sign-and-trade deal to land Brandon Jennings in Atlanta and send fellow restricted free agent Jeff Teague to Milwaukee to reunite with former Hawks coach Larry Drew. ESPN.com reported early in free agency that the Bucks, at Drew’s behest, had interest.

Will Bynum's deal in Detroit is for two years, $5.75 million.

** Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

The Cleveland Cavaliers are pushing for free-agent center Andrew Bynum to accept a two-year, $24 million-plus, incentive-based contract offer, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Monday night. The Cavaliers met with Bynum in Cleveland on Monday, but could fast lose patience with waiting on the two-time NBA champion center to make a decision on accepting the offer, which includes a team option in the second year of the deal, sources said.

I guess we'll have to see what the "incentive based contract" part means, but yeah 2 years at 12 per for a guy with the . . . issues of an Andrew Bynum makes the Jefferson contract look fairly tame. If a team like the Cavs is willing to throw that kind of money at a question mark like Bynum, then we payed about the market rate for a good free agent, which is shocking.
