2014 NBA Draft Talk

I have to say, I think Jabari Parker will be the best player in the draft by a fairly wide margin. Watching him play, it's almost like watching Carmelo Anthony play. He's just such a dominant SF. No, he isn't going to do all of the things LeBron can do, he's not a mix of all five positions like LeBron is, but he's a scorer from the SF position the likes of which has been seen in years.

However, I don't think Parker is going to have an incredible college season. He doesn't fit the system of Duke correctly. He's not going to have the ball in his hands a majority of the time. He's not going to get to go iso. He's not going to be able to take over the game from the wing, just because that isn't Duke's offense. It could drop him down just a few spots and put him in that 3-5 pick range.

Also, Julis Randle is a man. That dude is going to dominate college basketball in way that hasn't happened in years. We're talking Blake Griffin level of good.

Agreed. Randle is a monster and will have a pretty big year. But honestly I don't see why everyone is up wiggins and Parker's ass. I'm way more impressed by randle. The dude will live at the free throw line in college and pros

Honestly, I sort of agree with you. I like Randle and Parker more than Wiggins. But, like everyone else we only sees youtube highlights. We're not the scouts that have been keeping up with these kids for years. I guess we'll get to taste it for the first time this upcoming season.

Yeah that's true. I'm no scout it nothing and haven't kept up with them. But from what I seen I love randle a game. Not saying that wiggins or Parker won't be superstars or better than randle. U just never see what the expert sees ya know. But like ya said we will see how they play against better competition In college

Yea, I cant wait! I usually dont keep up with CBB unless its local teams playing (Duke, UNC, State, Wake, etc.) or the Final Four tourny. But, this upcoming season is going to change big time. I cant wait to see what the HYPE is about Andrew WIggins. I hope Wiggins along with Randle and Parker will blow my mind away.

All of those players are great but our odds of getting any of them are around 0.

Boston is doing everything it can to be the worst team ever

Atlanta is trying to see if they can get by with just 5 players under contract

Milwaukee is going to be horrible with or without Brandon Jennings

The Lakers aren't going anywhere without Kobe and if they are in the lottery, no way they don't end up with a top 3 pick

76ers traded away their best player for someone who isn't going to play half the year

Phoenix will be horrible again

I wouldn't be surprised if we end up picking outside of the top 5.  The ping pong balls have never gone our way and I don't expect them to start just because David "Everyone knows I rig the lottery" Stern is gone.

Lakers, 76ers, Bucks, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte and Phoenix.

Lakers have enough pieces to have like a 1% chance of getting a top 3 pick. If the Celtics and Lakers both get into the top 3 then they'll be a fire on the NBA quick. The Lakers will have a lottery pick, but not a top 3 pick. The rest stand though and will be horrible, However if the Bobcats finish with the worst record in the league they can't pick below 3rd and would get Randle, Wiggins, or Parker. Then there's still Smart and a few other players that have 1st overall pick talent in most other drafts. If they end up with the 3rd worst record, then the worst they can pick is 6th. So forth... If it's outside the top 10, the pick will go to Chicago for Thomas.

I think the Celtics get the top pick with the worst record, Charlotte gets the 2nd or 3rd pick to create a jersey seller for the League. (It's the Hornets and they sell well, add a hot prospect to the mix and you'll get a hot jersey sales wise.) LA probably picks 7th or 8th, just fill in the rest.

Milwaukee actually wont be horrible. Let's remember they were the no.8 seed this past season.

The Lakers aren't going to bad with Kobe, Gasol, and Nash all still there.

Phoenix might be bad, but they still have a decent core with Goran, Gortat, Beasley, and Scola.

Cleveland, Washington, New Orleans, and Sac should all be better.

I'll have to say that its competition between us (Charlotte), Boston, Philly, Phoenix, and possibly Atlanta. It would great for us to not be the worse or even 2nd worse team since history have proven that the weakest team doesnt always win the no.1 pick.

It's really interesting to look back at the history of the lottery draft and see how far down jump of these teams were able to jumped up.

2013: Cleveland jumped from no.3 to no.1; Washington jumped from no.8 to no.3

2012: ?

2011: ?

2010: ?

2009: LA Clippers jumped from no.3 to no.1; Memphis jumped from no.6 to no.2; OKC jumped from no.4 to no.3

2008: Chicago jumped from no.9 to no.1;

2007: Portland jumped from no.6 to no.1; Seattle no.5 to no.2; Atlanta no.4 to no.3

2006: Toronto no.5 to no.1;

2005: Milwaukee no.6 to no.1; Portland no.5 to no.3

We will agree to disagree.

You have your opinion and I have mine.

Melo/CP3/Rose/Harden are allstars in my mind, like I said Lebron/Durant are once a generation type talents they will go down as top 10 players alltime when they are done playing, you cant say the same for those other guys.

Just my personal opinion, but I think you have your classifications off. Lebron/Durant will be Hall of Fame Type players being two of the best all time. These other players are franchise players... players you build your team around.

Also it is flawed to use team success to categorize and individual players as franchise/all-star. Just look how players go from one team who is garbage and then to another better team and have success. It doesn't mean that players talent changed or elevated, just that they had a better team. That's like saying Dan Marion wasn't a franchise player... Steve Nash MVP is not a franchise player, Derrick Rose is not a franchise player.

I wouldn't say are odds are around zero.... But I think we will continue to suffer from being good/bad at the wrong time. This year teams are making it clear they are tanking for the 2014 Draft and I really believe FA's will be available and MJ will jump on it...

I think Philly will hands down have the worst record

IF the Celtics do indeed trade rondo then they will also be down there...

Atlanta, Milwaukee, and the Lakers will be very high in the lottery if they are even in the lottery...

After Philly and MAybe Boston is will be Us, the Pelicans, the Magic, and the suns.

So right now before any moves I see us finishing anywhere from #3 - #6.

We are probably not going to get a top 5 pick next season. I think we will be better than the Celtics, 76ers, Bucks, Magic, & the Hawks once they lose Josh Smith. That is all in the East too. Expect mucho tanking from 6 or more teams and I don't think we will be one of them.

If the Celtics trade away Rondo then they'd definitely be one of the bad team next season. If they don't, they'd still be a somewhat decent team. Probably still better than us with guys like: Rondo, Bradley, Wallace, Humphries, and Brooks.
