Hornets / Bobcats draft Zeller

It was either him, or Oladipo. I had fallen in love with Len, and while I'm sure he'll transition into the NBA the more tape I saw of him, the lesser of a fit I'd see him here. Zeller is the all-around good player, while others see Aldrige and Lee in his play I see a polished more athletic Pau Gasol.

I think it's a great pick, and LOL at those comparing him to Morrison. Morrison ONLY had his shot, if you took that away he broke down. Zeller is athletic, smart, and has an excellent shooting potential that would make him top-tier once implemented into his game.

I like the pick, had either Oladipo or Bennet fallen I'm sure they would sure things, but they were obviously sought by other teams and were taken.

Ben has the highest ceiling in the draft, but also the highest bust rate. Zeller is a safe pick in a draft where unknowns were rampant through the 4-12 range.

Watching the NBA draft stuff keeps bringing me back to that interview with Smitty and Moose on WFNZ a few weeks ago. Moose kept talking about how much talent evaluation and the NFL draft have changed since his day, how the younger players today don't want to put in the work to show you how good they are, they want to be drafted on their 'potential' instead. Every year people project players to out of this world proportions. We have these kids spending one year in college and expecting to be number 1 overall and to turn into 'all-stars'. Not to say some of those players don't fulfill the hype and reach their potential, but betting millions on those kind of projections is ridiculous. Who knows how much better Cody can be in the NBA. We're already seeing he has NBA 3-point range that wasn't shown in college, he is a big time athlete, he has shown 2 good years of college ball, he's smart and skilled, he is going to be a team player. He isn't going to be playing the same way he did in college, we'll definitely see his full spectrum of abilities in the NBA. I think he can gain muscle and he's gonna continue to get great coaching as a big man this year. Why can't he have potential to average a 20/10?

McLemore is going to be a Ben Gordon.

Cho: I think he'll be good for Clifford's system. Best athletic big man. Work ethic and character is off the charts

Cho says those attributes put him above Len and Noel.

Cho says Zeller was No. 1 on their board when the pick rolled around.

Higgins: his versatility to play 4 or 5 is attractive. He also fits the culture piece for us.

Higgins: Zeller is a natural fit with Biz. His game is relegated to paint and with Cody's perimeter shooting they complement well

Wouldn't go that far at this point. Where Aldridge excels in his game, Zeller has a long ways to go, for an immediate example, his defense is pretty bad.

Yes, I agree. But once he comes together he can be as good as Aldridge. Zeller has a very good post game and have been compared to Aldridge. I think Zeller is a "no bust potential". He's a complete PF/C, who is closed to reaching his ceiling. That's why the media are not intrigued by him. People likes the "raw" guys.

One thing for certain, he will not be a good Center in the NBA. He can space the floor with certain rotations, but I shudder at the thought of seeing him body up with Hibbert, Monroe, Noah, etc.

IMO, he's more of a PF than Center.

He's closer to Aldridge, Pau, and Duncan than they typical centers like Hibbert and Marc.

Let Biz do the blocking and post-downs, Zeller will OWN the 8-15ft area, Kemba will penetrate, MKG will clean up, and Hendo can now have the spacing to create his own shots now.

If we land a Superstar next year, look out!
