Mock Draft Schmock Draft

Just curious if anyone knows which notable mock drafts have been the most accurate in recent years?  I have looked at plenty of mock drafts, but I can't find a site that compares previous mocks and provides indication of who has been more accurate.

Pie to anyone with some good info.

Draft Express has been very good.

However, last year they flubbed (like every other mock draft).

To be honest, there is not a premier person at NBA mock drafts.

If I had to separate some from the field it would be DraftExpress and Sam Amick (SI).

Sam Amick had a great mock draft in 2011 (Mock Draft 4.0), until he started listening to guys like Chad Ford and Joe Kotoch which forced him to change his. In Amick's 4.0 draft he correctly picked 7 of the first 9 draft picks. So I guess you could look at Amick's mock draft from two weeks ago and go off that lol. I actually don't know if Amick has done a mock draft this year though.

I'll also point out that DraftExpress is the only draft that had us selecting Kemba Walker in the 2011 Draft.

Can't find Amick's 2013 Mock... is it out yet?

Does anyone actually save mock drafts and try to statistically determine how accurate they are? I think that would be interesting to look at. Whenever I try to go look at old mock drafts after the real draft happens, they have a habit of quietly disappearing.

People do, but no one really posts the stats.

Chris Sheridan said Joe Kotoch (who does the mock drafts for Sheridan Hoops and Fox Sports) statistically had the best mock draft last year, but after checking Kotoch's and others I call bullpoo.

Yeah, I've always went with DX (DraftExpress) for most of my draft info.  They do a great job across the board.  Mannix seems pretty reliable as well.

I've never actually thought about it until this thread, but it's amazing how right NFL Draft Experts get their mocks versus NBA Draft "Experts" doing theirs.  The NBA Draft just seems like much more of a crapshoot.

I think alot of that has to do with in the NBA teams draft more for BPA while NFL draft is more for positional needs which can somewhat help the predictive process.

Also, with the influx of Euro/International talent in the NBA draft, it can completely skew the draft order when teams like the Spurs draft a guys strictly to stash him overseas for another 2-3 years instead of looking for instant impact.  NFL doesn't have other pro leagues to pick from that have better talent than NCAA college football.

With DraftExpress having us take Len, can someone tell me why he is going to be better than Byron Mullens.  I know Len has more of a post game, but I see him wanting to drift out and shoot long jumpshots more than bang.... we need a banger.

Watch the highlights of Len vs. Noel. If that player shows up night in and night out then he is an all-star.

I think Len will be better on the defensive side, and probably better offensively as well with post game.  They ARE about the same size though, Len taller but Mullens heavier (according to ESPN).   Len has a slightly longer wingspan.   I think he'll be a better shot blocker than Mullens.

Plus I don't expect Mullens to even be on this team next year.  I'd rather have Mcroberts because of his high energy blue-collar work ethic.

I criticized that McBob trade hardcore when we made it but after seeing McBob play live a few times, I couldn't help but want him back... and I'm a Carolina fan.

I know they do that for the NFL mock drafts. Donno if there's one for NBA.

Oh I didn't know what to think when that trade went through, but I didn't question after watching him play.  He's a good piece to have on your team.  For example, the Heat sure could have used a guy like McBob in the finals to come in and put some grit out there.   It's not ALWAYS about stars on your team, you still need PIECES for when you GET that star.   I watched an interview at Bobcats.com and he sounds very grateful that he had a chance to play and start here and would like to stick around.  We need to KEEP those players who want to stay (McBob, Hendo, etc).
