Carolina is now discussing a deal with Toronto that might send Morgan Rielly to the Canes.

I would do that.  Rielly was picked 5th last year and he's going to be a beast.

More possible scenarios has Toronto sending Gardiner and the 21st pick to Carolina for the 5th pick.

The Flyers sending Coburn, Matt Read, and the 11th pick to Carolina for the 5th pick.

 

I wouldn't trade down this far though.

As of right now, a trade has not been made according to Chip Alexander, who just bumped into Rutherford in NJ.

That Buffalo rumor has to be more than just the 5th for the 8th and Myers.  Tyler Myers is a lot to give up to move up 3 spots.

I love Morgan Rielly, I do a trade similar to the following

Carolina Receives: Morgan Rielly, 21st pick overall, 7th round pick

Toronto Receives: 5th pick overall, Zac Dalpe

Also of note, Rielly is the guy they wanted last year before trading the pick.

Pierre Lebrun reporting Canes don't want Edler, could be because he took out Staal in the world championships.

It's reported that Jake Gardiner and Morgan Rielly are interchangeable in the trade, but regardless the Leafs have to add more.

Experts are now saying that the Canes will not keep the pick and either Morgan Rielly, Jake Gardiner, or Tyler Myers will be traded to Carolina.

99.9% chance pick is traded unless someone gets cold feet in the next two hours.

Myers and the 8th isn't worth it. Myers was horrible last season and hasn't been good since 2009, they need to give up more. Leafs trade is horrible and they need to give up a ton more. I've already mentioned the horribleness of the Philly trade

 

 

 

If this garbage is all they are getting, then keep the freaking pick.  The only offers I've seen are for prospects that aren't worth it or has been defenders from 2009 season. 

 

 

This is just like JR, got a chance to get a great player but it's a swing for the fences type of pick. Forgets that player completely and gives up the pick for garbage or takes a horrible player that shouldn't be picked there.
