Anybody who knows anything about the capacitor?

The repair man said it was broke, he charged me $169.

Could I have fixed the capacitor for cheaper?

Oh yeah they also charge $65 just to come out.

My total was $234 just for broken capacitor.

Fug!

Sounds like you got off easy.

Pray that's what it was.

When my AC went out a couple of years ago, the best option was to replace it all because of newer energy efficient ratings.  AC+Heat+fan, was out $7800.

Just finished paying it off last month. :(

Poptarts2 toots own horn

You can buy CAPs online for $30-40 shipped from AC part distributors. You need the PN of your cap and google. I bought a spare in April, just in case. (I have two units for my house).

As for dangerous, mine only had 3 small terminals to hook up and they are labeled on the battery. I worry more about jumping a car battery.
