Rich Cho on WFNZ

Rumor: Wolves and Nets are "close" on a deal that would send MarShon Brooks to the Wolves for their #26 in the draft.

 

 

Williams, #9 is probably not enouth for Cho to drop back from #4.. like Bubba said- maybe next years 1st? too much?

I read somewhere that the Nets loved Reggie Bullock at a recent workout. He should be there with their #22 pick & then they can grab someone else with #26. The Nets are in cap hell and only have 9 or 10 guys under contract for next season. Getting two players on cheap rookie deals (combined would be about a 2.1 mill cap hit in their first year) would be one way to fill up their roster without financially killing themselves any worse than they already are.

I would be surprised if Zeller was still there at #9. I know his perceived value has slipped in the eyes of some, but I expect at least a couple of front office decision makers fell in love with his interview and workouts. I think if we really want him, we will take him at #4.

In regards to Zeller LaPhonso Ellis said he was the best screen defender in the draft. Just needed better toughness unerneath but has great leadership intagibles and communication that is required of good defenses.

Interesting with Zellers sharp offensive skills. He is a quality big I would not hate it if they traded the pick and got him at 9.

Zeller won't be available at 9. If we want him, we take him at 4, and that's good value for him. Fans don't value him but I guarantee you that GM's do.

I think Zeller would be a solid pick. I think a frontcourt of him and Biz would be pretty swell.

Here is the question...if this draft is such a crap shoot then why are people so against drafting someone 5 spots higher than an alternate possibility. Is 4 really that different from 9? In this draft if I had the #1 pick, I was Rich Cho and my guy was Cody Zeller, then I wouldn't hesitate to choose him.

The draft isn't crap, it's just not top heavy with superstar talent.

Four really isn't different from nine based on talent but their is a huge difference in potential from four to nine.

With guys like Zeller and Olynyk, you know exactly what you're getting. Then you have guys like Len, McLemore, Porter, and Noel who are already decent players but they have way more potential then a guy you are going to get at nine.

That's what a lot of people don't understand. If someone is your guy, you don't trade back because some fans and "experts" (who are wrong 99% of the time) think that he won't be picked that high.

That argument is a poor one (in my opinion) because if the draft is the same from number four to number nine, you can trade down (collect more assets) and get a player similar to the one you were after.

Think of it this way...

The BuzzCats trade down to 9 with their eyes on Zeller and Zeller gets drafted at 7... well if the draft isn't different from four to nine then Kelly Olynyk will be just as good of a fit as Zeller.

This was the same reasoning I had when Len was projected in the 8-9 range.

Mike Giminski was presented with Len at 4 and he said "No, way too high for Len" "then said in the 7-8-9 range Id take him."

Which makes no sense..bc the Hornets if targeting a big man do not pick agin at 7.

Do not get peer pressured into drafting Noel bc he is high on draft boards.

I guess I used Giminski's logic with Zellar. I think Zellar and the Gonzaga Center(not spelling his name) are kind of neck and neck where Len could be a rare guy if foot concerns are resolved.

I just don't think Mike new how much potential Len had. Like I said previously, with guys like Zeller and Olynyk you know exactly what their cieling is so their stock is based on how good they are now where Len's and Noel's stock is based on how well they will/could be.
