Hold Onto Your Butts: MKG BEING SHOPPED.

I guess maybe a trade where Charlotte sends MKG and Gerald Henderson (sign and trade) to Golden State for Harrison Barnes (Charlotte plays him as a shooting guard) and the BuzzCats draft Otto Porter...

PG- Kemba Walker

SG- Harrison Barnes

SF- Otto Porter

PF- Bismack Biyombo

C- ?

If somehow we pull that off, we might as well sign Al Jefferson.

Yea that makes sense. I can see Barnes as a SG. What happens when a Parker, Wiggins or Smart get here? We tell Porter to add 20-25 pounds to move inside at PF?

To be honest, I really have no idea.

But I'm with you, it would be fun to get both of them and finally have an offensive team.

I know we'd probably like Barnes a lot but I'm not sure GS is willing to part way with him. It would've been much easier if we had just taken Barnes last year.

I want to believe that this is just a SMOKESCREEN, but I can't. I'm sure there's a lot of truth to this report. There's probably something that we don't like about MKG. If this is being reported already, I rather move him now. Bc more than likely his name is going to come back up nearing next season trade deadline.

If we want Barnes, it seriously makes me question what is going on in the FO?  If we wanted Barnes, why didn't we take him over MKG in the draft?  So, he got into the NBA, then you saw him do some things in the playoffs and thought, "oh, so he can do that in the NBA?!?!" and now you want to trade more assets to get him, when you could've just gotten him with your pick in the first place?  LOL.

Cho and MJ told each other they made a MISTAKE. I guess another bad move by the FO. This is why we're in the position we are in today.

I didn't really want MKG because of his lack of offense, BUT I felt like if we got him that he would come around and that his sheer energy would carry him through until he developed a shot.  Problem is, with his lack of consistent playing time, he wasn't able to do much of anything, and again, I blame Dunlap for that.

I'll admit, I'm a Carolina fan and I didn't think Barnes could amount to much more than a jump shooter in the NBA but after seeing him just dominate in the playoffs I have to admit I was wrong.

I truly do believe now that unless you are primarily a three point shooter (P.J. Hairston, Reggie Bullock), you won't truly showcase your talents in a Roy Williams UNC offense.

Jabari can play the 2 potentially, 3, or 4.  Wiggins can be a 2 or 3.  Smart is a PG/short SG.

Dealing for Barnes, if we want Porter, just makes no sense at all to me.  Honestly I'd rather have Barnes than Porter anyway...he just seems like a guy decent at everything, but great at nothing.

Same here, I'm an alum that was on campus (overlooking the Dean Dome) for Barnes' entire career at UNC...  That being said, I thought he would be predominantly a jumpshooter once he got into the league, depending on what team/system he went to.

BUT, there were times at UNC where I saw him do some things that me think there was much more there than what we saw for the duration of his time at UNC.  I saw him create his own shot, break people down off the dribble, make a move and teabag some guy on Clemson like he wasn't even there...  BUT, I didn't expect that to happen regularly.

That being said, I would've been happier with him at #2 than MKG, mainly because I hardly ever trust Calipari guys to translate well to the NBA and because of MKG's lack of offense in college.

    • be kind of hard with us going undefeated the rest of the year. yeah...i said it.
    • I don't think it's necessarily selfless to make that trade. I think it's all in how you plan and if you can objectively view the player. You know you're going to have a new coach and be taking a QB in the draft. Whether or not he wanted to admit it, we were going to be beginning a rebuild with a new offense and new defense. Depending on the coach, Burns may not have even been a good fit for the scheme that coach wanted to run.  So, if you're not 1st, you're going to need to trade up. Burns likely is going to want in the 30m per year range. While an effective pass rusher, he was never a complete DE. He wasn't a JJ, TJ, Bosa, or Garrett. He was more Reddick, and while good, never going to be in that top tier contract caliber.  So the question becomes, knowing that you need a QB to go with a new coach, is it better to have your  23, 24 and 25' 1sts  extra 24 and 25 1sts an extra 23'2nd  and 30m aav of future contract cap space to get a QB and edge rusher  Or your 23, 24 and 25 1sts and a good, but not elite DE on an elite tier contract.  6 picks and available 30m AAV in cap space vs 3 picks and 0 extra cap space to get a QB and a good, not great, DE.  To me that is a simple answer and frankly one that could potentially save my job. You have to have vision and be able to recognize value. Fitts over valued Burns like many fans did. I think ultimately what cost him his job was 3 years of not being able to value players correctly. We saw it twice in the draft in 2 separate years when he panicked and couldn't read the draft. DJ Johnson and Matt Corral picks specifically come to mind.  I don't think it was about being selfless as much as being a strategist. Neither Rhule nor Fitts never struck me as very strategic guys. I think they were more let's throw poo at the wall and see what sticks. Unfortunately for the fans, none of it stuck, but it still all stunk.
    • The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So... Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.
