Went to Carowinds today for the first time

My friend and I are visiting the Charlotte area today and tomorrow, and we went to Carowinds today. The place has some pretty awesome rides. Don't know what the locals think of it.... do you guys ever go?

Haven't been to carrowinds in about 8 years. Went to a scarrowinds 3 years ago tho. Not that great.

very underappreciated park in this area.   most people think they're too cool for school even though they're scared to ride half the rides in the park.

 

i think afterburn is a very highly rated coaster for its style.  and we have one of the first stand up coasters, and one of the first B&M coasters in the vortex, even though its not very good.

 

i haven't bothered going in a few years, but i do want to ride intimidator

they've come a long way since cedar fair bought the park...and taken steps back in others.

 

they're pumping the park full of rides, bigger ones than its gotten in awhile

 

but they took all the damn trees out and now there's no shade

I love rides. It's fun to go right before they close up for the season in October. It's cool out and no one is there so you can get in and out by 1 pm.

i like going on a tuesday or weds if i can.  that way i just ride afterburn until i'm sick of it.

i haven't been in years so i don't know what new rides they have. But Top Gun and that corkscrew one were my favorites.

weekends are terrible.  avoid the nighthawk line at all costs unless you get in as soon as the gates open.  you'll be in line for 2-4 hours for that ride sometimes and its totally not worth it.

Top Gun was the best ride but I haven't been in maybe 15 years.

Intimidator is great but six flags over Georgia has it beat and its cheaper.
