Gay player...problem fans

I guess you told me. I have 26 notifications and I am not about to reread through some meaningless posts. If you don't want to tell me that's fine too.

Actually, never mind that.

Instead, if being gay is a choice, why is it wrong?

response to your training, 1000's will come but few are chosen.

Cute, but incorrect. In fact, that particular reference is squarely directed at those "followers" who claimed to be chosen due to their works and self-ascribed goodness rather than by their faith and love towards others. It's easy to be a zealot who lives by imaginary rules they agree with; it takes a person of faith to recognize your failings and to place others ahead of yourself.

YOU, I am afraid of you asking the same thing when I told you i am not going to look back.  Now you want to act like a kid with the premise that i am afraid.  Ask the question or not, either way it seems like you are the one with an issue.

Type quicker. Be a big boy &answer the new question since you ran from the other one.

right you can twist it up as much as you want but you are the only way touting 20 years gives you the authority like you are one of the few chosen to be anointed.  you showed a bit of pride by even mentioning the fact that you have 20 years which seems like that would give you the right to be correct and end all.  so in that case, many may come but few are really chosen.

Also the way I interpretted it, is that many will come claiming but few are chosen by the most high.  but i am sure you knew that with your years of experiences.

Goodnight everyone. This was fun!  I love any sort of spirited debate.  I just want you all to know that I do listen to your points of view and weigh them against my own.

If we get set in our personal methodologies and never question our own beliefs, how can we improve?

As always, GO PANTHERS!

It amazes me that there are always individuals who get left behind in civil rights movements. Our morality evolves with the times. Just as slavery was abolished and women became equals, this too shall come to be.

If we stick to morality codes written hundreds of years ago, we never progress. Slavery which is not only advocated in the bible, its practices are outlined. Taken literally, the Bible states "I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet." Today we realize how antiquated this thinking is do to our evolving ethics and morality.

I do not hold anyones' religion against them. I myself do not need a set of arbitrary rules to govern my life. I have a clear set of ever evolving laws created by my state and nation, as well as a good sense of my own ethics and morality.

The problem is context. The Bible is a historical record, not a user's manual. It also features a lot of language that has no modern interpretation, and so without a level of understanding it gets easily twisted.

Here's one of my favorite examples: the prophet Elijah (my namesake) had an epic showdown with prophets of Baal, where they built dueling sacrifices. The Baalites couldn't get their god to rain down fire, and Elijah mocked them by asking if Baal was "on a long journey."

In modern parlance, he literally asked them if their god was taking a sh*t! But tidbits like that are completely lost on modern readers, which is sad because there's huge facets of the Bible that suddenly make a lot more sense with proper context (such as apocalyptic language being used as a literary device to emphasize certain messages, not as literal descriptions of doom.)

Being self-assured with one's logical beatdowns is not a sin; many of the apostles and prophets were extremely disparaging of those that they debated. (Should I recite Daniel's taunts to the doomed Babylonian king?) There's no good in withholding the brutal truth to the ill-informed.

ok sure thing, i getting on it now.

That's all it takes to break you? Wow...

Anyway, any gay player that comes out will face some really sick poo... until one goes off like that guy in Playmakers( fug ESPN for killing that show) & points out that if he's somehow less of a man for being gay, everybody else must really suck since he's the one that made the pro bowl, MVP, etc...

That is why I didn't hold back because you were completely wrong with your interpretation and the 20 years that you did your studying were you listening or were you questioning what you were taught?  It seems like you have no opinion of your own but of others.

So being prideful with someone's opinion other than yours is truly disgraceful.

Yep because I have little patience for idiots. So there you win.

Lol! So now it's my fault you can't back up what you say?

(Pssst! This is where you pretend to agree with me & hope no one notices that I'm right & you're running.)

C'mon, let's say being gay is a choice, why is it wrong?

You didn't hold back? Pray tell what you didn't hold back on, as I wasn't aware you said anything of interest in refutation outside of implying I was wrong via allusion to a verse out of context.

Come now, if you really wish to have a discussion you will need to bring more firepower to the table. Do week need to starting discussing the meaning of various Greek words, or the lineage of certain Aramaic texts? Maybe the interplay between Luke's assertions of Jesus as the Word and its philosophical implications to certain Gnostic sects?

Again, the fact that it hurts your feelings to be so ill-prepared for this debate is not a failing of pride on my part; it's your own pride being wounded.
