Very smart move on their part.  They are getting rid of the requirement to "check in online", the requirement for any internet, and are also re-implementing the choice to use a physical disc and resell at your own convenience.

I guess all the consumers bitching got through to them.

Smart move on their part to not be stubborn and listen to customers.

They still have several months to make up for their initial blunder.

The problem I have is that we heard for several weeks how developers were pushing for DRM, which lead many to believe Sony would be forced to follow suit.  Then e3 came, they didn't and now this.... sorry, but it sounds to me like M$ was the one pushing DRM and used game restrictions all along, and when it blew up in their faces they back tracked and said "we love you consumers and we listen to you".  If that was the case then online only, DRM and used games restrictions would have been scrapped before e3, and it would have been part of their keynote.  Me thinks it was more the fact that Sony didn't fall in line like they were supposed to, and M$ looked like complete fools for implying developers wanted DRM.  Not saying this will change my decision (I'll still get both consoles regardless for the exclusives), but M$ have a lot further to go before they dig themselves out of this hole....

Why go back to MS because of this?  They just showed they care little for their customers, and admitted that it's a bad idea by reverting back.  Basically they was hoping everyone would be sheep and accept it, even while knowing it was terrible and wrong.  It didn't work.  It shows how much they value our intelligence.  Now they are trying to save some face but they still don't care about what we want.

I'd say they do care.  Not really care, because no company really does.  What they care about though is the bottom line.  They saw that what they planned was going to hurt their bottom line, and it would have.  I know that I was heavily leaning towards getting a PS4.  Now I'm about 50/50

Man, I love the internet hate.  It's really kind of funny, and mostly extremely short sighted.  Cline, you call those who like the XboxOne sheep.  What is a sheep?  An animal that lives in a herd of other sheep, that does sheep things, and does the same thing all the time.  Now if we're deciding what console (and their fanbois?) are sheep-like, then I have to argue that is the PS4.  They kept it the same, which does have a lot of benefits.  I mean, cheaper used games?  Doing what one wants with their disc?  Great right?

The problem is, the video game market has been in dire need of innovation and risk for a while.  What MS proposed was radical, and hit the video gamers hard.  I know how difficult it is to do something different.  BUT we do need something different.  People get caught up the in the used game discs and the once a day internet connection.  I get that those can be problematic for many different types of people.  The benefits though were pretty awesome.  Like being able to share your games with 9 other xbl members as a "family."  So my friend Bob_01 can play the games I buy, and I can play his.  I'll take the other parts of the DRM (that have zero effect on my life).  I can go to my friends house, sign into xbl, and BLAMO, there are my games?  Sweet!  No discs to carry, lose, have eaten by Bob_01's dog/cat/girl friend in a rage.  How about being able to sell your digital games?  C'mon, you mean that doesn't sound like a good idea?

But it looks like as if the internetz has won.  We'll be back to the same as it was, which isn't terrible, but it isn't forward moving.  Maybe I am just a sheep, or someone who appreciates a bold idea.  I admit, you may (I guess fairly correctly) label me an Xbox fanboi.  I do like my PS3 (rediscovering it lately) and PSN.  I do love the idea of sharing in the PS4.  I was looking forward to an all digital next gen (my DVDs books are filling!), but I guess we won't see it in console gaming.

Anyone who tries to defend the DRM and used game bullshit is an idiot. It's pretty much thanking the corporations for fuging us in the ass.  I'm going back to Xbox simply because I've always preferred Xbox and I was only going to leave them because of the terrible changes they were trying to implement.

At the end of the day I want the XBOX 180 to sell well (although I won't be buying one).

The last thing we need is a monopoly on the console market. Competition is great for the consumer.

This would have never happened if Sony weren't competing with them.  So thank you Sony.  I still don't like the idea of every console having to have a Kinect.  I have no use for it.  Now all they need to do to definitely get my business back is offer the new Xbox without the Kinect.  As it stands I'm probably still leaning towards getting a PS4, but I don't think I'll be getting one on day one in any case.  I may see how it all plays out and see if either of the hardware have any major issues.  I'm not going through the RROD again.

    • Richard Sherman got dog piled for basically saying he didn't stand out as a WR prospect but looked elite as a CB prospect. A few months ago you could find other players commenting on his limited route tree and raw route running but the search algorithms are flooded with love affair right now. The guy is the best CB prospect in years and he'll contribute on offense too. That is the absolute opposite of a knock on the guy. It's just the people buying into him being a full time two way player in the NFL like he was at Colorado who gets their panties in a wad over just stating the simple reality that he ain't gonna be a full time two way player at the NFL level with 17 games seasons and no Travis Hunter fan should want that either if you want the guy to make it to a second contract.
    • You do know you have to be invited to College GameDay? They called him out there and asked him about it and he answered it. And do you think he would have this type of interactions with a coach he doesn't have that type of relationship with? You're reaching to the furthest extent lol. I've seen a video of Hunter literally getting cursed out by Shedeur by not catching a BAD pass from Sanders and he didn't say anything just went out and caught a TD pass the next play! A "diva" would've got into a shouting match with his QB
    • WHAT?!?!?!?! Honestly for the life of me, I can't figure out what you're saying here.  How are you saying their supporting casts cancel each other out and Hunter STILL had the better season? The supporting cast is LITERALLY the reason that he had the better season statistically.  If you put T-Mac on Colorado in place of Hunter, I'm 100% convinced he'd have had better stats than Hunter did, as he already had almost the same number of catches, and more yards, with a significantly worse QB and with zero other offensive weapons to take any attention away from him like Hunter had. If you think Hunter having 7 more TDs is more because of Hunter vs T-Mac and not because Hunter's QB had literally DOUBLE the number of TD's this year than T-Mac's QB, then I have some Arizona oceanfront property to sell you.
