The SS battle is the toughest. I'm stoked for any of those guys to succeed. I think Mitchell will be the flashiest looking one who people will think is better, but I think DJ should be the starter if he continues to progress this offseason-- he was one of the guys who was taking ownership of our D at the end of last season and I think he's at the top of our intelligence level at the position mainly because he soaked up a lot last season. Lester might be our undrafted star this year he has a lot going for him I don't see us cutting him. We should cut Jones and Nakamura for these new guys

I think Josh Thomas is going to be our top CB with Florence maybe starting across from him and eventually giving way to Josh Norman if he is truly picking his game up. I think we end the season with both Joshs as the starters. DJ Moore will be starting Nickel but him and Captain could be interchangeable - we might even see some looks with both on the field at the same time. I think Dockery stays a backup.

I think Hangman may start at RG but not for long, regardless of what happens Kug will be starting at some point, it's just the wave of the future, he's gotta get realtime reps and gel. It'll be awesome if he can win the job outright though.

I think Ginn is going to be a key guy on Offense, him and Hixon should both get a lot of field time, I think there are going to be more than a few games where people will say Ginn is breaking out and proving he can do it. Hixon should be a fan favorite with clutch LaFell-esque plays. I think Armanti and Pilares stay. At this point I think Gettis and Adams are done, Bryant will be the bottom of the chart because he has 'fresher' potential at this point. If Bryant completely bombs I see them keeping Adams one more year over Gettis.

I'd really like Williams to succeed and he just might, but Rosario should be the #2 with Hartsock showing more as a receiver than he ever has for us before, we should be real solid. Williams might stay on practice squad for the year if we're lucky.

They wont keep 6 CBs. We kept 4 CB's and 5 S's last season. I see it flipped this year with Moores ability to play FS. But no way we keep 6 CBs.

Yea i kind  of pulled that from my ass ..... i haven't been  following the secondary position that much...

I agree with all of your picks except 1. Captain will win the nickle battle.

Good post.

I forgot White and I'm hearing good stuff about him like we heard about Lester at safety. So the question might come down to who they can  stash  on the Practice squad. I think Whites beats out Dockery because they like that he is more Physical then Dock.

1. Lester

2. Smith, Lafell, Gettis, Hixon, Ginn, & Edwards

3.  Norman, Florence, Captain, Moore, Thomas & Dockery

4. Williams ( i think he takes  2nd spot good compliment to Olsen with excellent blocking skills and good hands with speed ....2 TE set with Olsen and Williams is going to be killer  as both improved in blocking and are good receivers.)

5.  Kugbila ...... takes the starting job when season begins............When the  pads are put on in TC his run blocking skills is going to win him the job.  ( I think this position and  Bell  improvement is going to be one of the most important key to a successful offense.)

Not saying you're wrong because this is just a opinion question. Nobody knows right now.

1. I just can't see Lester beat out Campbell and Mitchell but I do see him making the team if he can beat out Colin for a special team spot. Maybe they can stash him on Practice Squad but I doubt it.

2. You could be right but I really hope 2 guys out of the (Pilaris, Gettis ,Adams, and Byrant) group beats Edwards for the final 2 spot.

3. Yeah the 6 Cb isn't happening. I could see 5 with Moore being a CB/FS. And Hopefully we can stash White on the Practice squad.

4. We might keep 4 TE (Olsen, Harts, Rosario, Williams) if Williams isn't healthy hopefully we can stash him on the Practice Squad because all I see and hear is he is a Physical Freak. Brockle maybe a FB/TE.

5. Hang will start the season but Kugbila is a D2 guy and they don't want to run into the problem they had with Amini last year where the 1st part of the season he was a liability.

1. I like DJ and he will for sure put up a battle and make the team. But in the end Mitchell Speed and Size plus his mentality to hit 1st ask questioned later will win him the job. Plus he is a upper level Blitzer at the Safety position. Which the coaching staff liked that why they signed him early. He just the kind of player you want to Play strong Safety in the box and making WR TE and RB think twice when they go over the middle. Lester and Moore will leave Naka without a job here. I don't know about Colin because he is a speical team expert. It might come down to if they can stash Lester on the Practice squad which IMO they can't.

2. I don't think Dockery will make the team. It will come down to who they can stash on the practice squad. I agree with everything. We also might sign somebody if nobody steps up in camp.

3. I agree with the RG position.

4. I really hope you're wrong at the WR position. I can't dispute you but I really hope Armanti doesn't make the team. IMO i just don't see the upside with him.

5. Hart is a lock because he's the best blocker. It will come down to Williams and Rosario and who they can hide on the practice squad.

Let's also remember that the number game at other position will effect these TC battles. You have to ask.

How many OLine men will they keep (usually 8-9)

How many Dline men will they keep (usually 8-9)

How many LB will they keep 5 or 6? And JJ has to be counted as a LB even if he never see the field on defense.

Where will Brockle fall?

Barner ability to be a Returner will effect the Wr battle.

And How many QB's we carry this season? 2 or 3?

I hope so but mixed reports aren't sounding to good. It's almost like it's predetermine that Gettis is on his way out. He might have to far outplay him.

He has not done much in 2 years and he is not a workout warrior like AE. The fact is though neither LaFell or Gettis are workout warrior but both had upside on the field. It also does not hurt that his competition is AE and Adams.
