Monta Ellis to Choose Team - Charlotte Among Them

I heard all yesterday how it was a 4 team race, then the Kings were out, then the media was like no no the bobcats are out.. then the Hawks were leading the race.. then late last night the Kings started leading the race and now it's being reported that Ellis's final visit will be with the Bobcats. Is the media seriously this bad or is Ellis a drama queen?

Somehow could be anti-leverage on Henderson?  Not sure.

I'd be really surprised if we sign him.

I feel comfortable going into this season with what we have, minus some cheap guys to fill the rest of the roster obviously.

Where'd you hear that last report with us involved, fug?

LoL @ all the people on here who say "NO!" every time a potential Free Agent is mentioned for the Bobcats/Hornets.  Fact is, Ellis is better than Henderson.  He doesn't rebound as well or play D as well, but he is an elite scorer.  Kemba, Monta, MKG, Zeller, Jefferson would be a mid-seed playoff team in the East.

Don't we want to make the playoffs again?  We have accumulated good, young talent over the past several seasons and have sucked every year.  Time to put these guys with some veterans and let them start WINNING.  Nothing helps development like winning.

If we can get Ellis AND keep Henderson, I think Henderson could be an EXCELLENT 6th man, a guy who can not only backup the SG position but the SF position as well.  Sixth man role is pretty important in the league right now so it's not like it would be demeaning to Hendo.  J.R. Smith still racked up points in that role last year and the fact Henderson can backup two positions makes him valuable.

Not saying it happens or if I even want it to happen, but a team of:

Kemba

Ellis

MKG

Biz (or Zeller)

Jefferson

starting, and then Henderson, Zeller, McRoberts, Haywood, Sessions, Gordon, Taylor as backups...... sounds kind of exciting.

Well, apparently he's got more than just Atlanta and Dallas to choose from, as David Aldridge reported last, because if that was the case, he would have already come to an agreement with Atlanta...  According to Dallas News, the Mavericks are no longer a consideration:

Monta is an elite scorer?  I would classify his offensive game as slightly better than Henderson; Monta averages 4 points more than Hendo while taking 5 more shots and getting to the line at the same rate.

He could be waiting to see what Jennings does, I don't think Monta wants to play with Jennings anymore. If Monta signs with Atlanta then Jennings signs with Atlanta he is stuck there. If he waits to see what Jennings does first then he can choose to take a paycut somewhere else (if Jennings goes to Atl) or suck it up and play with BJ.

Henderson is not a sixth man who tends to be slanted to a scorer shooter like Ellis.

He is a short shooting guard who has to shoot 24 shots to score 18-20 points. Ellis ideally would be a sixth man.

Yeah agreed. Henderson's game is like a marathon not a sprint. He needs 35-38 minutes to show you everything he can do whereas Monta can give you the full package whether he's playing 40 minutes or 28 minutes. He's the perfect 6th man but there are probably few teams in this league that he would accept coming off the bench for.
