Everette Brown: Diamond in the Rough

So most of us are already high on having picked up Brown. This is just another article that backs up what we think.

DE Everette Brown, Carolina (second round; 43rd overall): Some will argue that I'm not taking much of a gamble by having Brown, the first defensive end drafted in the second round, leading off my defense. Based on the fact that Brown was the sixth defensive end drafted from a supposedly weak year for pass rushers, however, the selection is justified. Say what you will about the upside of the pass rushers selected ahead of him -- Brown was the most consistently explosive and fundamentally sound sack artist from the 2008 class. Had he been 2 inches taller, he would have been a top-15 pick. Carolina got a steal in Brown at No. 43, and it won't take the former ACC star long to prove it.

I am REALLY excited to see him play.

Brown was one of the safest picks in the draft. I found it funny that as the spring wore on, he kept dropping down in mock drafts not because of anything he did, but rather the fact that his measurables (mainly height) were not ideal. Big mistake for the many other teams who passed on him.

I think he is gonna have some Rookie mistakes but the guy can play thats for sure. I just hope he can get pressure like Rucker use to and Peppers feels like being great this year.

Many teams will be kicking themselves for letting him slip when they see what Ron meeks has done with this talent. Lets not forget Meeks has always liked shorter defensive ends.

exactly hes always excelled with short des. He had to be thinking of a future for brown that may even bring a more complete pass rushing version of Dwight Freeny when we drafted him.

Personally, I love that he was picked without using any of our 2009 picks. He is a first round quality back that we got a full year early and for a 2nd round price.
