Kanye's New Album Yeezus Leaked

i liked all 6's and 7's but idk if i can cosign on this one; admittedly 6's and 7's is the only tech n9ne i've listened to but it sounds more like a rock album than anything else to me

let's wait and see if something else (i think it's being released in the next week?) registers at all because i enjoyed the production on yeezus for the most part (particularly charlie wilson's part on bound 2 and all of hold my liquor)

Yeah I get what you're saying and I agree but what I was getting at was the more electronic sound and its unconventional, almost shock factor, styling. Tech has done a good bit of it forever, and it has spread to a lot of other artists on his label. Krizz Kaliko's album has a LOT of stuff that sounds like it could have come off Yeezus. TBQH the Yeezus album and concepts etc. sound a lot like something Strange Music would put out.

I meant to re-visit this thread yesterday after giving it a quick listen.

I have to say, his production is on par with all of his past works, you just have to consider that he is pushing the envelope and re-inventing his sound, so to speak...  It has a very acidic, dark, house/industrial feel throughout the album, but it still has that unique touch that signifies it's Kanye's work.  I find "Hold My Liquor" and :Bound 2" to be the most addictive tracks on the whole album in terms of production.  The hook on "Bound 2" is so amazing that I wish it lasted a full minute at a time, lol.

But, I have to admit, outside of his lyrics in songs like "New Slaves" and maybe one other song, it seems like an uninspired effort lyrically for 'Ye this time around.  Not nearly as creative or elaborate in his rhyme scheme or delivery as in albums past, but it is serviceable.

Summary: great production per usual, but a less than inspired effort lyrically - which has been my observation of his works since Graduation (MBDTF is the exception in all of his subsequent works).

mbdtf is musically one of the top albums I've ever listened to. Lyrically, I think it's one of his best if you look at it from a different perspective. It really packs a punch especially when you look at the last track of the album.  His flow is obviously not that great.

This album is all about over-indulgence, America's fixation on materialism (specifically black rap culture), and God-like egos. This is essentially a modern day masterpiece when you look at it this way. It is on an epic scale, both lyrically and musically.  From the first track with the lines "Can we get much higher" to the last track with the last lines about the basic necessities of man. "What does webster say about soul? all i want is a good home and a wife and kids, and some food to feed them every night..who will survive in America?"

Kanye is a walking, talking oxymoron. It's like he understands this but says fug it and acts like a complete asshole. Which is why the album is aptly named My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Because wanting and being content with just the basic things is against American culture.

But that is just the way i look at it. It's one of my favorite albums of all time.

Oh no, don't get me wrong...  That's why I brought MBDTF up out of all of his albums following Graduation.  I actually got it the day it released and LOVED it, especially production-wise.  Admittedly, the MAIN reason I got the album was because I saw/heard his debut of Runaway on the VMAs and the sheer creativity, substance, content, and delivery just AMAZED me.  I tried to find the track online through videos or whatever because it hadn't even been released as a single at the time, and you couldn't find it anywhere for that first couple of weeks.  I even would've settled for the instrumental.  It was an extremely inspired piece of work and it was one of those songs that when I heard it, it felt like my brain had been waiting for that specific track my entire life, lol.

When Runway came on for the first time and you keep listening to see if the melody goes the way you hope it will, it did NOT disappoint, it played out exactly as I had hoped.  A beautifully crafted song.  Lyrically, it reminded me of his earlier work that I loved, like "Improvise."  An introspective piece on the duality of being a chauvinistic "douchebag," and when the album finally dropped with the extended synthesizer ending, it was 10 out of 10 in my book.

Furthermore, I agree with you on the album for the most part.  When I first got the album and turned it on to skim through the tracks other than Runaway, and I was greeted with the "Can we get much higher?  Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh, ohhhhhh..."  Followed by the heavily layered production that followed, I couldn't help but roll my windows down as I listened to further my goosebumps, lol.  Also, absolutely loved All of the Lights interlude and the actual track itself.  Again, heavily layered with guest spots from Cudi, John Legend, Minaj, Elton John, Ryan Leslie...  Very diverse group and it just had a, forgive me for using an overused word but there's nothing better to describe it - EPIC feel to it.  Hearing that production took place in Hawaii and such, and it just added to the effect that, this truly was an epic outing from Kanye.

My complaint with the album was the visuals and images in the album art and accompanying video where he was playing with certain concepts in religion.  I'm not wanting to derail the thread nor offend anyone and their beliefs, but simply put, I felt it was offensive to my faith/beliefs, and therefore I didn't care for it.  Regardless of my views, I felt it was unnecessary for the album.  The music stood for itself and it was an amazing work.  I just didn't care for the stuff he was trying to sneak in there, which felt kind of forced, because again, it didn't necessarily coincide with the album content or concept.
