need honeymoon ideas

We did Dominican in April.

We enjoyed it, but i will reccomend to not stay on the Atlantic side of the island.  The waves were really rough and the beach was under a red flag everyday we were there.  The water was not blue and very Myrtle Beach like.  Next time i'm going to the Caribbean, i'm going to ensure we stay on the carribean side of the islands.

We also went to Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Grande St. Lucian.  Both very nice.  Montego Bay was my favorite.

Mostly gonna be lounging on the beach sipping on a rum drink.  I do like the Mayan ruins idea.  That would be cool to experience.

I've been to Montego Bay before.  We stayed at the Iberostar all-suite resort. It was pretty incredible, but I hear Negril is even better.

I'm getting married next June and just starting to look at honeymoon destinations.  I'm thinking we are going for the more "relaxing on the beach" vibe as opposed to an all-out adventure style honeymoon.  Probably looking to spend around $3k.

I'm kind of overwhelmed by all the options and am looking for any advice from those with experience.

Some places I want to look into are Negril, Bermuda, Dominican.  I definitely want to avoid Mexico.  I'm a little paranoid about getting in the middle of a cartel shootout.

Bermuda is better if you have cash to spend. Ask Fiz how it is. Think $8 beers and $400 hotel rooms.

I would avoid it as you will blow through $3k pretty quick.

DR is the polar opposite.

We went sailing in Tortola for ours but you kind of need some others to fill a boat.

I would look at something like Cayman which is more affordable as has great beaches. Maybe Aruba, or most anything with St. in front of it.

I've been the Mayan three times but never went to the ruins!!!  that said, they have a couple of incredible places to snorkel...and all the beach side resorts will have a boat you can take to get to the reefs etc to snorkel as well.  it's fricken amazing there.  turtles, all sorts of fish...last time we encountered a whale shark on the way back.  Beaches are awesome...some of the sand in the water might be rocky here and there as it's still recoverinng from hurricanes past....but I'd go back every year if I could.

Agreed.

St. John can be a drinking spot, cozy spot, hiking spot, diving spot, etc....

It pretty much has it all.

However you fly into St Thomas then take a cab to red hook, a ferry across the bay and are then in paradise.

I highly recommend.

Last time I went we got rental car, hotel for 6 nights, and flights for 1K apiece.

I've thought some of those resort destinations are a little overrated, you could go to the wild dunes resort and have just as good of a time in and around charleston(cool old south city if you never been) and save the travel expenses

Charelston is easily my in my top 5 favorite cites in the US, only places that compares to it as far as atmosphere goes is Savannah

Just got back from aruba 2 days ago for the first time. It is awesome. If you're looking for just an amazing time relaxing on the beach that's the place. The weather was perfect. Only place ive been where 90 degrees can feel like 75. Ocean was also amazing
