Holy poo are you still debating that they were even remotely comparable as prospects coming into the NFL?

I'm going to change the size of my type big so maybe you can  understand better.

I'm not comparing the 2 players genius. I'm telling you the same exact stuff was being written and said about Jarret in mini camp and TC for years.

Can you read the words that are showing up on your computer screen?

When we signed him back in 2010, I thought we had the steal of the draft.  I thought with his athletism he would really explode but what I failed to realize was he wasn't skilled enough as a WR.

2010 with Clausen at the helm wasn't much of a help. (Davidson the Joke OC)

2011 no OTAs or Training camps  (Chudz)

2012 slightly improved (Chudz)

2013 Contract Year and settling into a role as a WR. (Shula)

We kept him around for 3 years for a reason.  I would hope that reason will show in 2013.

I hear all the "Training Camp Hero", "Great without Pads" and other negative comments about him.  And I have even bandwagoned a couple of times on the bashing because I saw no value in retaining him.

This off-season seems to me AE name seems to be popping up more frequently.  Maybe it is a combination of finally getting skilled enough to make a difference and Shula.  Maybe Shula sees his value.

What I have learned over the many years I have been with this forum is pessimism is more prevalent than optimism.   More of our fans are doom and gloom.   I try to be more optimistic and believe that maybe we are about to turn the corner.  What's sad is when we do start to win those pessimistic fans turn into the greatest fans EVER.

I believe (hope) that AE has finally reached a point where he is comfortable with his route running, understands what he needs to do to be successful and has learned toughness from probably the greatest 5"9" receiver the NFL has ever seen.  (Say this cause he went up and fought for and won a battle with a DB for the ball)

Everyone wants to say "Well it is only in shorts"  I don't see others excelling like he is and they are in shorts as well.  They are on an equal playing field so to me that is not a fair assessment but haters will hate.

Then that worries me because I don't see the skill sets that makes him a good or avg. Wr.

He's not fast, quick or has proven hands. If he is the best player out of the guys who are more skilled and have way more upside. Then we have a problem.

I'm really trying to be nice here, but you're making it so very difficult.

Do you not understand how expectations and hype for a REAL legitimate top prospect at WR are vastly different from that of a player converting from one position to another who also happened to be grossly over drafted?

I cannot spell it out any further for you. I'm through debating semantics with you.

Not saying this to anyone directly because I only read the first few pages...

But it really is sad that some people actually want Armanti Edwards to fail.

It would be awesome if he finally stepped up, after all the majority of you have been preaching about how we don't have enough weapons for Cam.

I'm not going to say that Armanti is primed to be the next great Panthers receiver or even a legitimate threat as a wide receiver, but for some of you to wish for his failure just proves and shows how shallow you are.

What the fug is wrong with you? Are you that fuging thick???

What does any of this poo (expectations and hype for a REAL legitimate top prospect at WR). have to do with the fact that.

The same stuff was written and said about Jarret in practice.

For the last time.

I AM NOT COMPARING THE 2 PLAYERS!!!!  I'M TALKING ABOUT THE HYPE BOTH WERE GETTING IN TC AND PRACTICE THAT NEVER SHOWED UP ON THE FIELD!!!

My problem is, folks harp for years that AE doesn't make plays. So he finally has a couple great plays, and because they didn't result in TDs, they weren't good enough.

By all accounts he has improved every year. Culminating in him, apparently, seemingly beasting it this year. I would rather believe the guys who play with, coach, or report on, AE all are being impressed. Maybe that is just me.

Hey, if he can be a productive member of the WR corp. he makes us better. Why not? Why can't this be the year we get to go...Wow, that's what I've been waiting on!

History is the hole card of the, if recent history is any indication, folks. That is fine. Year after year you see the perceived upgrades that seem to fail for us, low level FAs, spotty drafting, and plethora of WTF moments. You become numb.

We are close. We now have a true football guy running the show. We have a Prototype, make everybody jealous, QB. A Defense that will cause opposing DCs headaches. And we are young. I just can't help but be giddy over the prospects.

The future has already started my friends. And GOOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said I won't get excited until it translate on the field.

I can understand some people being a little worried that the other more talented WR with more upside aren't being talked about or aren't performing well.

How do you not see the skill set.  Speed is not a criteria for being a good WR.  Many hall of famers were great route runners and great hands.

He is getting open and catching everything thrown his way. WTF do you want him to do.  Run inside, get fully dressed out to convince you he can do all the things you require to appease your doubts?

I get you are solely looking at what a player does on the field fully padded.  The NFL has decided to take that away so you do what you can.

I have to agree with theRed you are comparing Jarrett to AE. You are saying you cannot take what AE is doing well because Jarrett did well during the OTAs and minicamps a couple of years back.  If it doesn't matter what Jarrett did then it shouldn't matter what AE is doing.  Thats comparing.

Not going to continue to debate it.  You said it isn't.  That's your story.  NO need in arguing.

Then you fuging can't read either.

I'm comparing that both got rave reviews during practice but it never showed up on the field.

At what point did I compare the players??? Show me the post where I was comparing the 2 as WR please. Show me the post where I'm comparing there skill sets??

Guess what you won't find it because I'm comparing the situation not the players.

And yes I don't see the skill sets.

He has 5 catches in 3 years. How the fug can you see the skillsets??

He's getting open with a shirt and helmet on.

Like I said I'll wait before I get excited about a camp report when it comes to Edwards.

I know all I have right now are hope and a few positive comments. Really doesn't mean much yet. But I like being hopeful.

It is kinda disconcerting about the lack of info on Gettis, Pilares, and Adams. I have to wonder what kind of rotation they are using. Who is running with what squad and all that.

I hate being out in the cold.
