Ted Ginn Jr. wowing Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (ESPN)

Recommended Posts

I can't get all that excited that a receiver who's biggest problem is that he hates contact doing well in practices without contact.

That is an absolutely fair assessment.  I wouldn't say that I'm on pins and needles that this is the next Randy Moss, but what we have all been clamoring for is a true deep threat that has to keep the safeties honest.  If he can just show that he can beat press coverage and get open behind his man then defenses will have no choice but to compensate for that creating a whole new dynamic for this offense.  This run game vs a 7 man front?  Smitty vs underneath coverage with no safety help?  That's exciting no matter what time of year it is.

Only thing I question in Ginn Jr. is why didn't he do this last year with SF?

Maybe Cam and the change of scenery yet again will finally break his potential

Do what?

It's only Mini Camp. He hasn't done anything yet. Lol

I actually hope he does well for the Panthers. And maybe the change of scenery will do him well (especially if/when his deep play capacity is utilized).

However, we won't know anything until the season starts later this year.

another new trend people love saying on here that is totally false

Now I will admit I have heard, in the past, that AE has had some good practices. However, those reports were sporadic at best.

This year it seems like every practice has been an AE practice. Throw in that Rivera says he is the most improved. And what do you get? Excitement from the fans who don't mind being optimistic. And herp ba derp from the realistic and reasonable fans.

If it is true that AE has put it all together? It makes us a better team. I can live with that.

that's what i mean, people turn an occasional tweet into have been spectacular practices to dismiss possible improvement this year.

Lets talk down about all receivers not named smith.

That way we look consistent when we say our receivers suck.

Some folks are just so enamored with past failures they cannot see anything but doom and gloom.

And with the advent of the interwebz, they now have a platform to share that fear with the world in general, and us in the Huddlez in particular.

Ah the interwebz.

I may be wrong on this one. But I am under the impression that this is the first year he is running with the 1s and 2s. Instead of the 2s and 3s. He is catching passes from Cam and DA, instead of DA and the jimmey.

To me that means he has improved to the point he is being considered a viable WR option. The key word being, improved.

The anti AE folks will never allow themselves to admit to improvement in AE. Oh well, to each their own.

Lol it's the same story every year. You can pretend it's not, I don't give two fugs.

Im not an ae homer (If he is stepping up fine if not send him packing) but I dont get how a tweet here and there about armanti not dropping a punt or actually catching a pass in past camps = the tweets this year.

If we get 40-50 catches from him with smith's normal 80, we might have something here. But when the season start my focus will be on the OL. If the OL is stout then we can go all out in the off season next year for WRs. I know the defense will be there this year so we don't have to worry too much about that. I think we'll make the playoffs this year.

if we get 50 catches in two yrs. out of Ginn........... it will be a success.

along with his return game.
