I was driving down 421 yesterday going between waypoints in a differential GPS i'm learning to use for site surveys this summer and I got nail by NCSHP, 83 in a 65. Shitty timing (what tickets aren't) and my court date is before I return from Peru.

Do some research in your local area for any shop that does "speedometer checks" Some cough, cough will check your car and then they write it up showing its 5-7 mph over. They  cannot not charge you for faulity equipment in the State of North Carolina. I have gotten off many speeding thickets using this system. They will ask you if you will plead to a lesser charge because they want the money!

 

Or purchase a new speedometer cable and have a mechanic install it showing on a bill and present it to the DA when in court. This may also help you get the charges dropped.

This...but they do get heavily used as well.  NCSHP especially.  Local/city not so much.  Some of the car funding comes from drug/crime money confiscation as well.

Well, you can promise that all you want.  But that is EXACTLY what it cost me last November.  Got a ticket in Virginia for 87 in a 55.  Attorney cost me $75...fine was about $200-250.

The $75 that I was referring to was only the lawyers fee....not inclusive of the fine.  Total cost was about $300-350.

What you fail to understand is my way the ticket is dropped and your not pain that fine and your not paying an attorney . It costs Between $50 - $100 depending on where your going to get the tests done. So how is this a bad thing when you yourself stated attorney Fee $75 plus your fines totaling up to $300-350... The attorney screwed you or the laws in VA are different than here in NC. When you get a ticket dropped here, you do not pay fines or fee for the it since the Charges were dropped. That attorney did nothing but plead you down to a lower charge to stop from point going on your license. So in that seances you were screwed by false promises from a crooked attorney wanting your money for something you could have done your self.

 

Oh and the cost for a speedometer cable is between $25-$35 plus getting a mechanic to write you up a receipt free or $20. Total $45-$55. 

 

Or $50 -$100 for checking the speedometer.
