Gordon/Gordon trade idea

New Orleans is desperate to get rid of Eric Gordon.. he doesn't want to be there anymore either..

Charlotte is looking to get younger and aquire assets.. Eric Gordon would be a big gamble because of his injury- but he was still dropping 17ppg last year and only 2 years removed from being a 22ppg player with the Clippers

so the idea is swap the #4 and #6 picks and the pair of Gordons

Bobcats get: #6 pick & Eric Gordon = 4 years @ $13.6

Pelicans get: #4 pick & Ben Gordon = 1 year @ $12.4

what say you???

I know Eric Gordon's body of work at the Clippers speaks for him being a huge asset for any team. But his injury concern, lack of support for his current team, and especially that huge remaining contract are a lot of red flags for me. I am not sure he is worth moving back two spaces in this draft despite how weak it is in talent. Now just a straight up trade player for player with no picks involved I would do.

I don't think that the Pelicans would do that... they aren't as desperate as you would think.  I think Gordon is more unhappy than New Orleans is to get rid of him.  Only being 2 seasons away from acquiring him in the Chris Paul trade, i think in the grand scheme of things they wouldn't have traded Chris Paul just to move up in the draft 2 spots and acquire an expiring contract in Gordon.

I think your scenario as closer to possible if we were to throw in a young productive player like Jeff Taylor or Byron Mullens along with Ben Gordon.

1yr 12 mil is more valuable..we should gain a 2nd rounder in this..not get a lower pick.

Ben gordon off the books will free up huge money and Eric Gordon at 22pts a game is still not worth crippling the cap 3 more seasons for. Id rather draft Oladipo or Mclemore if thats the case.

I'd jump off a bridge if that happened!!!!!!

Only thing is I dont think the Pelicans would do it. Swapping picks and swapping players seemed to little. NO could probably get something worth more than that by trading Eric Gordon alone. Maybe we could sign and trade Gerald Henderson with the deal.

Charlotte receives:

No.6 Pick
Eric Gordon

New Orleans receives:

No.4 Pick
Ben Gordon
Gerald Henderson

Maybe??

2014-2015 Charlotte Hornets
PG: Kemba Walker
SG: Eric Gordon / Taylor
SF: Jabari Parker / Kidd-Gilchrist

PF: Biz / FA

C  : Alex Len

I would do it... here is my reason why

At 6 We could still get Len, a player many are excited and wanting anyway

Here is the main reason... We have never had a top scorer. Eric Gordon is a great scorer in many ways in the league. He has proven himself in the league as a solid 20 pt scorer from all over the court. He is a career 36% shooter from 3pt range. He has great handles and can create his own shot. I think if healthy he could really help this team take a step up and we only drop 2 spots in draft.

If there was any chance of this trade I would have multiple team doctors work Gordon out and clear him. If he passes health test I wouldn't hesitate to make this trade.

A lot of people are saying that Phoenix is very interested in Len, so there is no guarantee that he is there at six.

I would rather keep our pick, keep Gordon and use some of our cap room to sign J.R. Smith (if we choose to move on from Henderson) rather than trade for Eric Gordon.

Like others have said, Eric is a great player; but if he can't stay healthy then what's the point.

On top of that J.R. Smith is a better all-around player.

I just don't think JR would want to come here. He seemed like someone who wants to play with star player like Melo. It would be a great addition if happened.

    • A Quarterback in this mold is and was always going to take a long time to develop. I think he still has quite a bit to go.  We didn't draft him for his foot speed or arm talent. We drafted him to be the leader and commander of the offensive unit. and he is growing in that capacity on a weekly basis. Being smart and being able to make the correct adjustment and get your team into the right play and being able to get the ball to the right spot is the most important thing an NFL quarterback can do. You can scheme around it, you can simplify, you can try everything, but those skills make a dominant NFL quarterback more than anything else. More than anything else, that's what the Montana's, Brady's, and Manning's do. And those are the ones you want. What we are seeing with Mahomes is a guy that has the brains, unique arm talent, and above average foot speed. He may go down as the greatest. I don't see that in Bryce's future.  He's got a long way to go, but he's showing he's capable of being that game managing, offense controlling guy. While that type of quarterback is the most dominant, it also takes the longest to get them game ready, and if they don't ever get to a dominant level, they often don't pan out. So it is a risk.
    • This is fake news as Trump would say. Nobody’s comparing seasons the nfl pundits ESPN first take si.com and other outlets are stating what we’re saying in this thread it looks like he’s regressing. Now to address your statement their leading their division ummm have you seen their defensive rankings compared to ours. You’re cherry picking which you can’t do with me I’m not a poster who’s here to argue I like thoughtful in depth convos. They have the 4th ranked defense put that in Carolina don’t you think we’d probably lead our division this year realistically. With the offense you’ve seen the last four weeks being average let’s just say with a 4th ranked defense how’d do you think we’d look or how many more wins would we have? You can’t say oh but they still lead their division knock it off it’s bc they have a terrible division and an elite defense. CJ is dealing with issues Bryce dealt with bad Oline and he has weapons but they’ve missed time and when out he’s looked below average having multiple 2pick games, the man’s had a 4 sack game followed by a 8 I repeat 8 sack game that’s a bad Oline leaving him to regress so Panther Bryce fans can’t pipe down we’re just stating facts bc yes they’re winning with a elite defense give a little more context to your statements it Matters!
