Further proof that Beason is the type of leader we need

Because it's not the same for the veterans anymore. The NFL doesn't need us. In this NFL, the old vets don't factor in. The kids don't listen to nobody. Nobody!

When I saw this, the first thing that flashed in my mind was a quote (and I can't seem to find it) from Beason from one of the first team activities. A reporter asked him what this defense would be like without Peppers, and his eyes got wide and he just said "Young."

A very different perspective on the power of the veteran than what is found in that article.

Buc was kind of talking about this today on the radio, though I think it was in the context of the NBA. So much emphasis is place on speed and athleticism that kids coming into the league think that's what it's all about. The flashy players get paid but the solid, smart players win games. Sadly, there's probably nothing that can change it other than the fans just not liking great athletes.

Some starting LB will go down in Camp and the D. Brooks cell phone will be ringing constantly.

Sad thing is the know-it-alls, DON'T. B. Ruud had the idea but he is a minority.

Look what Vinny Testeverde did for D. Williams. Though two seperate positions Vinny was able to teach D. Will how to prepare who now is showing J. Stewart.

This is the main reason why a rookie salary cap is needed. All the money is going to the unproven guys, while players you know can still get it done are at home until they are needed. If the NFL really cares about their vets they will get something done. So the vets like Brooks can play until they feel they can't anymore. And yet the Favres of the world get slurped on year after year. Who would you want on your team right now? I'd take a class act like Brooks any day!
