Right, I would just want proof. People seem to forget athletes are people too. Smith had this problem years back, prob still does. People would go up to him while he was out with his fam. Ppl think you owe them.

For events like these obviously Cam isn't handling all the logistics. With any kind of celebrity or athlete you run the risk of missing out on their autograph. Personally I wouldn't try getting it this way regardless, but that's just me.

Then you get the grown men out there who may randomly see him somewhere and expect one.

Frankly I don't understand the obsession with autographs. I'd rather just get a picture with them if anything.

 

after that ridiculous incident last summer where the entire country pitched a bitch fit over cam "charging for autographs" (read: autograph signing appearance with an entry fee which is something that tons of players do) i kind of wonder if his hesitance to sign autographs outside of sanctioned events is by design.

 

i mean it would make sense if he was under contract or strongly advised to only sign under certain circumstances.  fewer autos floating around => value driven up => memorabilia people can charge a premium for events where he's going to be signing.  this is just baseless speculation on my part so i invite anybody who knows something about this to chime in.

Well if you look at it from an athlete and marketing perspective I guess it makes sense.

I've always heard he is bigger on signing for kids than adults anyways.

I wouldn't want a bunch of guys dressed like Joe Person crowded around me just to sell my name on eBay.

Yeah I keep hearing stories that he blows people off for autographs and isn't overly friendly outside of non sanctioned events.

The flip side of that is the fact that his status as a pro athlete doesn't mean he owes anyone autographs or impromptu photo ops.

Also heard that he's more of an introvert than he leads on and that can be mistaken for being an asshole.

I've seen HUNDREDS of photos of Cam taking pictures with fans outside of the sanctioned events. I don't think he really likes taking photos or signing autographs when he's with his lady, or doing stuff with his family. You'll get the same response with Steve Smith when he's with his family/kids.

yeah i'll never understand the mentality that it's fine to just wander up to a celebrity when they're out with their family and trap them in an awkward situation.  those people get what's coming to them.

Think I may have seen Cam in the CLT Airport at around 3 pm last Thursday, Not wearing any Panthers gear and didn't have anyone around him IF it was him which i thought was weird.  Was so surprised to see him forgot to even try to speak to him though.

Looks to me from the pictures above that Cam was having an excellent public event with some nice looking young people.
